Sounds like it's probably one of those situations where if he could get a new car with insurance as part of the deal he'd actually be better off

Except for ANCAS, oh em gee lease spec reverse snobbery etc

£800 isn't that bad, tough to get out of an overdraft if you're a low earner tho

Up until a couple of years ago, I was regularly balls deep in my £1000 overdraft limit, never really bothered me until the bank started issuing charges even for agreed overdrafts, I strongly objected to being charged a £10 fee for using a facility they'd agreed upfront and got rid of it...it was tough going. Now I have the limit reduced to £100 and avoid using it like the plague

Credit card is a different story mind, I've been battling that since time immemorial, but, if things go according to plan I may finally be free of it next month, I think I'm down to about 200 quid on it now from £2500ish 12 months ago.

I'm just not great at telling myself no...

The credit card did stress me out for a while, until an old work colleague told me of learning his wife was £25k in credit card debt on nothing but 'stuff' and he'd had to take out a 25k loan over 30 years to clear it

Then I thought actually, my financials are in pretty good shape here..

I'm completely debt free for the first time in 34 years.

Sounds to me like should take out a credit and buy a '60 Buick convertible...

You know it makes sense.

You are born with nothing, if you die in debt you've made a profit, as the saying goes.

If I was only £800 overdrawn, I'd be overjoyed.

Still, I'll be qualified soon, then I can start paying all the shit off!

Usual practice now is to give overdraft up to 50% of monthly income. Years ago they'd give you silly limits. The credit card situation is nothing new though.
