I do believe KevFromWales on Retro Rides has about four of these (estate, van etc), his dad worked as a Nissan dealer. Might be worth asking him if he has any glass, etc.

Hmm, assuming Japanese 4 1/2" stud pattern, my MGB fitting Cosmics would do quite nicely with some appropriate tyres I reckon.

You must do this, Seth!

What's the griff with these? My neighbours had a new estate one in about 1990 and I often wondered as it looked primitive compared to the other Nissans on the street at the time.

They look nothing like the other Sunny's that were for sale at the same time or indeed before? Are they based on the Sunny or do they just use the name?

These were Sunny estates which were available at the same time IIRC.

Yes indeed! That red sunny estate was a completely stand alone model imported to the UK alongside the regular hatch and saloon 1.4 and 1.6 multivalve engines. The van carried on with the older 1.3 & 1.5 8v engine. Nothing transferred between the van and car range between '89 and '92.

In between our domestic maket datsun / nissan sunny models, the Japanese - nz / oz market had a model we never had in the UK. That model had an estate variant that carried on alongside its later hatch and saloon replacement.

Sounds like you’re talking about this DX estate:

Which was a more basic, commercially-oriented estate version of the 1982-86 B11 series which Nissan kept making after the saloons, coupes and fastback estates had been replaced. The panel van was just a 3dr variant of this DX estate without windows.

In Japan it wasn’t uncommon for the estates (and van derivatives) to only get replaced every couple of generations.

P.S. The white fastback estate you put up is an old spot of mine.

The later model estate is based on this model which was never officially imported to the UK (grey saloon at bottom).

In the uk we jumped to this model, which had no estate variant.

Ah, my mate had one of those Sunny vans back in the day in hearing aid beige.  I got  a lift home in the back when I was pissed one night.  I'm sure it replaced a Maestro too.  I remember he stopped using it in favour of a push bike.  Must have been shite!

There was an estate Sunny on RR last year I was going to buy (got the Mercedes instead). I remember I got him down quite low as well. Not sure if he still has it.
