castros_bro
Roll up roll up to near Guildford train station in Surrey junction 3 of the M3 - the Lightwater one in Surrey. Here we have a fine* example of VW badged shopping trolley still with it's VW badge (adds 50p) the classic Mitsubishi Colt Auto. Due to the loss of all my garages, for the council to flog to builders, this for is sale ASAP. There are several previous owners on that there reprobate (retrobate?) site Autoshite who will probably crawl out of the woodwork. Here is a (stolen) pic from it's glory days, it's the same car but less polished and not ready for a photo-shoot, presently has a broken exhaust that's sheared through the centre section with some wire holding it together. Has been on loan for a month, dog hairs and mud, and don't know if there's other issues yet. ✓ MOTExpires: 17 August 2017Vehicle detailsVehicle make MITSUBISHIDate of first registration October 1988Year of manufacture 1988Cylinder capacity (cc) 1468 ccCO₂Emissions Not availableFuel type PETROLExport marker NoVehicle status Tax not dueVehicle colour REDVehicle type approval Not availableWheelplan 2 AXLE RIGID BODYRevenue weight Not available Sigmund Fraud, saucedoctor, EssDeeWon and 2 others

Sigmund Fraud
That failure list had me muttering "they all do that, sir" to myself. Sounds like it needs around £75 in parts and some patching to both sills for an MoT. Not a big deal, but 6Ns are currently so worthless that the poor thing will probably end up as a parts car (or get fragged)
castros_bro
It now has a new petrol cap but local friendly sparkle stick artist was dismayed at the rot and said £400+ and it'll need more next year.

castros_bro
I suspect the outcome will not be pleasant but the putting the details in WeBuyAnyChod including the NO MOT says they will give me £103. Has anyone tried this as an alternative to the scrappy and did it end pleasantly ??
Cavcraft
Used them twice recently. They're incredibly fussy, so expect them to chip you right down. Have you tried Cartakeback?
castros_bro
Yes CTB = £35 but the logistics - time off work and effort - would be easier with WBAC being close to my work. Cavcraft
smellypoo
WBAC, as Cavcraft says, are fussy. They'll chip it down till there's virtually nothing left to give you. Shame about the corrosion, that aside it looks like a nice little car with some easy fixes.

Have you got a local 'cars for sale' page on Facebook? They're often worth a try, that aside I suppose WBAC is best hope. PurplebargeKen, any good to you? Cheap automatic not far from London. Richard
It's a shame they are so rusty because they are great cars in every other way- not that there's any shame in being terminally rusty after 20 years. Lacquer Peel

mitsisigma01
You've done such a good job of wiring the exhaust I can't see the join , whereabouts has it gone through my phone doesn't show the pictures too good .
castros_bro
You've done such a good job of wiring the exhaust I can't see the join , whereabouts has it gone through my phone doesn't show the pictures too good . The central section runs from the lower manifold and has a flexi bit in front of a box with a flange behind for the rear section. Between the flexi bit and the mid box, both in the pic, the pipe has sheared through so a stent has been used ie smaller bit of pipe has been inserted bridging the break and wired together. On a casual perusal of exhaust porn websites there are several different ones listed for this vehicle so further investigation is required. The oil burning may not be quite what it seemed as the report was white smoke from where the exhaust is broken so possibly steam, the plan is to retrieve the car an bring it home and hope no-one in leafy residential Guildford notices it on axle stands by the side of the road. castros_bro
Due to loss of garages loads of stuff has to go, Polo then Colt, probably one at a time 205, ZX, Renault, Sachs, Morini, Hercules, Califfone, CZ, Aprilia, though putting them on the same topic confusing may become a tad confusing confusing. Kiltox
The polo had terminal rust The Colt has a knackered exhaust and potential smoking / oil burning issue but unconfirmed I really want to buy the Colt back so awaiting further info after he's checked it out Skizzer and strangeangel
Anglevan
I'm not interested in the colt, however if anyone buys it and wants parts ill try and help as I have the booted lancer version and do have a couple of boxes of spares. Or if it does end up in the north or fragged please let me know as would be interested in any parts that could be saved to keep mine on the road. mitsisigma01
I would be interested in the colt if only...... I've got so much crap happening at the moment. Unless you would like to swap it for a 52 plate focus mk1 tdciruns Ghia with no mot and a fault where it cuts out or looses power at approximately 60ish and sort of goes to limp mode.... apart from that it runs well , clean , non smokers car . Or if anyone else fancies a go at it
Anglevan
No sorry don't have a sender, I had a good nose around for a previous owner. Given the shape of the fuel tank and access panels. It would be easy to adapt to fit another type (kit car one for example) I only know this as I used a spare fuel tank from one of these in my anglia (yep same size!) And that's how I sorted the sender on mine.
UltraWomble
Due to loss of garages loads of stuff has to go Sachs, Morini, Hercules, Califfone, CZ, Aprilia, Tell me more about the Sachs, & MoriniDid you get to the bottom of why the Califfone wouldnt start? I still fancy this, but doubt I would be able to get it running properly. And, still loving the Aprilia - still cant afford it mind you.
Lord Sterling
One thing that has only recently struck me about the Colt was that it was originally registered in the Isle of Wight. I'd loce to buy this and return it to the IoW but funds are (as always) spoken for by various things. Good luck with the sale.
castros_bro
Tell me more about the Sachs, & MoriniDid you get to the bottom of why the Califfone wouldnt start? I still fancy this, but doubt I would be able to get it running properly. And, still loving the Aprilia - still cant afford it mind you. Sachs is B805 no 138 with about 2500km from new. Morini is a cast wheel 350 sport unrestored, the carbs presently in an ultrasonic bath but the rest is at the back of a crammed garage, also there's some spares like spoked wheel hubs and NOS black chrome silencers. Califfone a confusing ignition system without any points or pickup so tested CDI on the bench and only fires intermittently, got a new one and it now runs but needs putting together. UltraWomble
Sachs is not a shonky moped. Morini is not a shonky mopedCaliffone is a shonky moped & needs putting together. IMG_20170218_181900.jpgCaiiffone be teh one I'll be interested in then when you get to that bit of the garage - even more interested with a bigger proportion of beer vouchers if you can nail the CDI back on and get it running.
