Junkman's Irish Climate Improvement Mission A Full Success! - Caution: P6 Series 1 V8 Porn!

Today I took a more southeasterly route via Athy - Irish Baile Ãtha Ã, meaning "town of the ford of Ae" - (I didn't meet Ae, nor did I see his Ford)
and a place called Vicarstown - historically known as Ballynevicar, Ballyvicar and Ballyvicary, Irish Baile an Bhiocáire,
meaning "town of the vicar" - which apparently is neither a town, nor has a vicar.
For the record, it is not the Vicarstown from Thomas The Tank Engine, because it's not on the Eastern side of Sodor and has no railway connection.

This place advertised its fine food very well up and down the road, the many signs leading to it really made me hungry:

Sadly no dinner was served.

I spare you pictures of Athy, since you would drown yourselves in a barrel of Gin after you went to fetch an olive several times.

But this is the road from Athy to Vicarstown:

And yes, I despise littering as much as the next man, but this is taking things too far:

CCTV in operation? In the middle of nowhere?

Looking at the places I would think there are other priorities for the budget.

Speaking of which, there seems to be endless money available for traffic calming,

which is thrown into ones path everywhere.

But I have yet to see any traffic that could possibly be calmed.

Some excellent views, excellent photos and an excellent car. Please keep these updates coming JM.

If you get the opportunity, I would recommend a trip over to the western counties as there are some amazing sights to be seen and very unusual roads to drive along near to the coast, especially in Mayo (although it is quite a trek to get there.)

Today I was told at work that if the weather is really, really good in May, the Summer will be shit in Ireland.

I said worry not, good old Junkman from the GGG® will continue to improve© The Climate for you.

However, today was my final excursion with Rover Blue. Tomorrow Spikey and I will be driving it back to Blighty.

Saturday it will be dropped off at the legendary Rover P6 Sanatorium at Lake View, so its former and future

owner can take possession at his convenience.

Yes, my friends and coppersmiths, my foray with this car is coming to an end.

Please enjoy the last proper excursion with it with me.

Was that awesome roadside fuelling station still operational?

I mean, it was presumably closed, but in theory operational.

"Operational" is a term that harshly conflicts with what I've seen in Ireland.

But yes, you can buy petrol and diesel at Hanlon's.
