Well i enjoyed that, Not in a Life on Mars way but still in a good way.Lots of old cars, Talbot Alpine in the shoot out with rusty tailgate ftw!Next week even stars a Princess in a car flip shocker!

Just goes to show my panicking over bits of rust and blemishes holds true, they will always film the bits you don't want to be seen! :roll:The owner of the Princess cried when he sold it....... Still the granny got in shot a couple of times, and if you look really hard you can see me transit up the road.

Not yet  Was offered it, but given it's stolen recovered with no papers, no steering lock and not on the plate it travelled down to set on a grand was a bit steep.

Got a good look at the granny, and just saw me tranny up the street as the audi passed it......

Enjoyed that but the time travelling does get in the way a bit. Still, I enjoyed it so I'm happy.I might head over to the PC forum to read the *horror* (OMG BBC LIKES WRECKING OLD CARS etc) at the destruction of the Princess. If the bloke was so upset that he cried when he sold it, why sell it?

I kind of enjoyed it, but imho it's like so many good/great shows, should have stopped after the first series (LoM then in this case), now they are just doing the same thing in a different setting over and over again. I can't even watch Little Britain anymore, although I LOLd a lot at the first series.

'ashes 2 ashes' in the eBay ad... OMG Y?

I'm going to be brave and say that I've never watched it, and never intend to - same with Life on Mars. Trying to recreate an era is nigh on impossible and I just can't be doing with it, because I'd just sit there going "this just doesn't 'feel' like the eighties, and that incorrect Audi is really starting to bug me!"If I want old tat driving about, I'll watch the Sweeney or something.

I haven't seen any of this series, but I saw a lot of the previous one and thought it was pretty good. I like the time travelling stuff and spotting for incorrect period stuff is a bit of a laugh. Don't take it so seriously!

Im with Hirst - its escapist fantasy for an hour. Dont try to take it too seriously - that said I cant help but think the breathalyser was wrong for 1982, didnt they still use little blow up bags then? I have an original one somewhere - I wonder if the crystals still work? ( go from a sort of grey green to an orangy pink if you have alcohol on your breath).

I didn't realise that they had started a new series, mind you it's only Dutch and German channels on my TV over here other than Discovery or Animal Planet  Wasn't overly impressed by Ashes to Ashes compared to Life on Mars but I'm sure I'll get round to watching it eventually.

And guess what's in front of it?

I think your right, After i wrote that last night i had a look again on the Sky+ and It did look like a Master high top or a Transit on the second viewing!

Yeah I don't understand why people get upset and say they cant enjoy the series because a car had the wrong wheeltrims for the year or the police cars had the wrong type of light bar.Who gives a stuff??? its fun to spot stuff like that but its all about creating the general "feel" of the era which I think they do well.

The thing is that if they truly set it in the early 80s, the bulk of cars would be knackered old Avengers/Escorts and most people would wear unfashionable brown coats and drink bottles of Ben Shaws pop. It wouldn't be the 80s pop-culture style people wanted/expected.For example, Gene Hunt is a bit of an old fart - in the early 80s he'd still be driving around in the same MK3 Cortina but with black stonechip a third up the doors, with a worn-out "Drive Time" tape crackling out of a Tandy cassette deck. No way would he be all savvy and fashionable with his crazy shoes and German yuppie car.But as is, they've gone for a very exaggerated 80s feel with neon-coloured leggings, Pacman cups and Ultravox. There's all kinds of mistakes from subtle to reasonably obvious, but in a series which revolves around time travel, weird dreams and being chased by a clown off the telly, does it really matter? It's a bit like the modern perception of the 1960s, thinking it was all E-Type Jags, lasses in short skirt/enormous boot combos, mods and rockers, etc. In reality, it was Sid James on a miserable camping holiday peeking through a hole into the ladies showers.
