Disappointed with the lack of "it broke down I wish it was a Goona" content

Just found the V5 slip for this! Did you receive a new V5? I can't remember if I did it online or simply forgot to post the front bit off...

It's now incontinent. It's widdling on the floor while parked, probably in complaint at not being used now I'm taking the bike to work. I guess the leaky water pump has had enough, I'll have to change it sooner than planned.

When you said the water pump had started leaking, I did wonder if it'd start leaking really bad at some point. Your Saab's previous owner to me had a Saab 9-5 Aero that started leaking and as the car was a Friday job (he spent over 6k in repairs in 2yrs ownership!), it was the final straw for him. Apparently it was so bad when he chopped it in at WBAC, he had to park it around the corner, fill the coolant tank up and hope they didn't test drive it!

He then bought a newer 9-5 for his wife and ordered a new BMW for her. When that BMW arrived he then used the newer 9-5 and hence sold this one.

I don't think it's a big* job to change the water pump on these. Driven by the aux belt, as chain driven. Check the aux belt type though as they did different lengths depending on the age. Older cars had an extra pulley while newer ditched it. Might be worth throwing a new tensioner on it while you at it. Might just fix the belt squealing on startup!

How is the old bus getting along nowadays? Is it's water pump still incontinent?

Quick update.

Not very much to report at all. I keep topping the oil n water up & it keeps going like a proper car should. I've done nearly 5k in it now.

Other than that, I've sourced a matching alloy so that'll go on next friday when I get front tyres fitted. Going to spoil it & get the aircon regassed too.

Still not fixed the gearbox...

I did the water pump on mine a few weeks back, wasn't too bad a job. That and the oil pressure switch replacement took a combined 4 hours, 3 of which were swearing at it!

A week later the clutch went :(

I checked this morning, when I said nearly 5k it turns out to be 5,006 before I left the house this morning. Showing an average of 28.6mpg over that time too.
