REGINALD NUTSACKS 1.2-LITRE BEATERS

I've got two of those Ford 'double' sound systems lying around doing fuck all.

If I can find the codes, you're more than welcome to one Buster_Gonad. Only thing is they don't have the fantastic wood effect as in your Fester, just plain black.

I'm sure this peasantness will really piss you off in a £300 Fiesta.

On Mk3 Fiestas, (this may well be the same,) iffy back wipers can usually be attributed to dodgy contacts being made between the sprung contact pins on the boot edge and the contact plates on the slam panel. A quick clean-up there should be plan A.

The stereo might have a stuck button caused by overuse of Cockpit Shine or similar. If TRW wants to post up the serial number of the stereo he's offering I'll give you the code.

On my Escort the rear wiper didn't work because the wire had broken off the prong inside the tailgate AND the motor was buggered. IIRC it was intermittent wipe only too, which meant I only got voltage if it happened to be time for a sweep when I checked- before I realised that I wasted a bit of time trying to trace a fault inside the car.

I had a fiddle with the radio this morning, after some fannying about with the detachable facia the buttons came back to life. The radio doesn't seem to work properly (seems to have no reception, suggesting an aerial problem) but the CD player is alive, I tested it by listening to the Pet Shop Boys all the way to work this morning

I drove the MKIII XR2i in that convoy.

Autocar kept nicking it off us.

Dug a few more shots out from the Fiesta 40 Run - it started at Dagenham then convoyed in parts to Brighton Racecourse for the Ford Summer Festival.

Had to wait for clearance on these.

Autocar's snappers kept 'accidentally' walking in front of me.

All the Fiestas in the shot came from Ford's Heritage collection, a shonky building adjacent to the demolished foundry as you drive in.

Quite a few privately owned Mk1s came down for other shots.

Heritage's Mk1 again.

There were precious few MkIII XR2is on the convoy or at the show but this early CVH car turned up; it was a minter.

A couple of Fiesta Flys rocked up but I don't what happened to my shots; will post up again when I dig them out.

A final shot of the MkIII XR2i I drove - we shared pedalling duties between myself, a colleague and Barrie 'Whizzo' Williams, who raced Fiestas back in the 70s and 80s.

Probably a bit late but I'm adding myself to the fiesta fans. I had a 1.25 encore (poverty spec) for 8 years as my second car, and will never own a better car.

I added 80k miles with only service items replaced, loads of space to drive in size 12 dms. Pulled over on the m5 for doing more than is reasonable is such a small car. 45mpg thrashed everywhere. Genuinely brilliant car.

I scrapped it for what was a relatively small number of problems (and to get a mk5 zetec s I rolled after a month) and still miss it.

I can echo this, my wipers packed up on a monthly basis and a couple of minutes with some fine sandpaper and a bit of meths sorted it every time

I know rear axle bushes on the KA's are a common failure I imagine these are the same. That might explain your loose back end. They're a bit of a bastard to change apparently the last one I saw had them cut open with a 1mm disc, bushes changed then welded closed!

I read somewhere that the easiest way to change these was burn the rubber out, cut out the metal outer of the bush and then put polybushes in. His can then be done without removing the whole rear axle and doesn't need any pressing.

The bastard has eaten my Pet Shop Boys CD and won't give it back. I mashed the eject button so hard I broke it so the jobs in bloody tatters man. FFS

And the dream is over. Scrap it...

When I had the cd6000 from my puma with the code I couldn't even give it away so binned it. The fascia adapter is quite cheap, just bung a single din unit in? Or I'm sure some Barry boy has done a how to guide to fit a double din unit in with fibre glass and blue flock covering...

I've had a couple of mk5s and I'm running about in a sad face mk4 as my daily. Keep an eye on the oil levels as the zetec likes to eat it's rings. Another ball ache I've had from them is the rocker cover gasket leaking oil straight down on the spark plugs. Messy smokey oily job changing plugs after that.

They wob half way up the a-pillar too. Bit of a water trap

If it's a keeper they Handle so much better with a fresh set of bottom arms and drop links too
