Mainly because they're a nice blend of classic and modern, they feel like an occasion and some of the early cars really are very handsome. I'm after something a bit special. No silver kettles with charcoal cloth and trims. I'd like something in a typical cowley colour (primrose yellow, steel blue, dorchester red, pewter, maybe even arran white) with either leather or cloth personal line inside. I know a few of us have these cars and might know of one or two that might be for sale. I've seen that blue one on the tat thread which is of interest, but wedgewood wouldn't be my first choice . It's a Japanese spec Rover 75 Connoisseur SE in Dorchester red with Aubergine personal line interior. It's been owned for a long time by a club member. Probably am a bit of an idiot though! You could pay £1k for an ordinary example, but it wouldn't have the belts and suspension work done. They really do make a nice sound eh? Auto box was smooth and it was a nice place to sit. As an occasional car, would. And will. Just to find one now! Funny how certain colours really make this car, silver does nothing for it, and that Dorchester (red?) just looks dull. My ideal spec would be 2.5 V6 auto with cloth, roof and cruise. I've had two of these and didn't click with either so why do I keep lusting after them? I think it's because, whilst not a particularly rounded car, they just do some things so well. Like the sense of occasion, the looks of the thing and its fabulous ride quality. You won't get suspensions like that any more, more's the pity. Those V6s do make a lovely sound! The interior and suspension on the 75 suit me much better than they did on the ZT.However: like the Ford Granada that I complained about at length, WTF is the point of making a luxury car with a DIY gearbox? Worse, and just like the Granada, one that's heavy and hostile in use!Having said that, if anyone wants to pre-empt the sale/roffle thread I'll be posting when the tax comes due, feel free to come and make me an offer. Personal line brought exotic seat colours like green, blue and aubergine. It was looking very positive, as it was his parents car AND the belts have all been done in the last 12 months. Wife likes it enough, so was about to talk money when I asked him about the "new front bumper on the insurance which I suspected was "dealer spiel" for Category D. V411 HEV is actually a Category C write off. Not the end of the world at this end of the market, but you have to accept that you're probably going to be the last owner of a car like this. I remember seeing some very dire pictures of "repairs" to a front chassis leg on one of these on the 75/ZT forum - of course it could be fine, but by the time you've taken the bumper off or had a crash to find out, it's a bit late. The scrapyards are absolutely full of them at the moment so in Joe public's eyes they are worthless. there's a lovely ZT-T in u pull it at the moment. facelift 05 plate x power grey with the MOT til sept 2017 sat on the seat.Needed a clutch apparently - what a waste. The owner probably got £50 if he was lucky from cartakeback. Keep your eyes peeled and be prepared to travel for the right car and you'll find something great. they're fantastic cars. Fair play, that sounds like a good deal all round to me. If the price is right on the Wedgewood, then I'd be tempted. But I can see him having a mental block at anything sub £500.
