Yeah, anyone who moans about "originality" when fitting rear seatbelts is a tool. Are there any cars based on this design that had them? Might offer up a clue about where to weld the nuts.

Fantastic times one million chaps. I have thoroughly enjoyed picking my way through all this.....

I totally understand if its something you don't wish to divulge, but perhaps as a reality check for the rest of us it would be useful to know just how much the trip cost outside of the purchase of the car.....

It would certainly help put into context just how big an undertaking this was outside the time required and mileage travelled....

Looking forward to the videos and I shall toddle off to buy a hub nut sticker in a feeble attempt to contribute something to all of this!!

The UK imported version (Dacia Denem) was last sold here in 1984 and they've all since been scrapped.

Nobody likes the Roma, they both look out of place, the police are probably expecting to clear up every robbery/ theft in the area every time it gets stopped.

Roma != Romanian.

Upsets Romanians if you do that. Got told by a past college who is Romanian. A mild mannered man who got all very frothy when talking about the Romani people. I just avoided that topic entirely there after.

Didn't anything sold in the UK have to have rear seat belt mountings from the mid 60s on? Just check a 12 break for where to put them.Surely they had started to put them in ,even in Romania by 1990?

The first vehicle I fitted rear belts to was a VW Type 2. I reused the front belts from a scrapped 405 that I bought from Fuzz.

Rear belts are going in at some point but probably not before the MOT.

1964 was when front belt mounts were compulsory, '67 when belts were compulsorily fitted in the front.

Spent the last 15 minutes internet browsing for info on when Romania fitted rear belt mounts, very hard to do. Just found an advert for a 1999 Dacia 1310 saloon and it's not got any rear belts that I can see of.

On that practical classics note, pretty sure Sam Glover of that/this parish still has his dacia denem and the mot only ran out recently and is currently on sorn. Might be worth a message to see if his has rear belts fitted.

Wow. I'd forgotten that!

Seller tells me the 1310 should have rear mountings - I haven't found them yet, but we've still got wings and a dashboard in the boot. I'll have a look next week. Rear belts were not fitted as standard until 1998.

It will be under Dacia 'model missing' on HML no doubt.  'Model missing' often explains why there are more cars in real life than you'd expect. E.g. I think the Allegro says only 162 taxed - and given the number that come up for sale, it is surely more.

Yeah there are quite a few Dacia "missing" entries on there, I know it relies on the DVLA database being accurate, which given the massive cock up of handling the log book transfer of that Focus I owned, probably isn't very good at all. Just going on the info I could find while chipping potatoes for dinner!

Just shows up as this for me.
