smellypoo
Mornin' all, I went to visit my Nan the other day as she had a fall, my Aunt was also there for the same reason - while there, she mentioned she's picking up a new car on Friday and wants to get rid of her current car. I don't know if there is any appetite for it here, but here goes: Volvo S40 1.8 pez, manual.Maroon in colour, under all the dirt. It'll clean up nice (by nice, I mean if you like faded maroon paint and like to squint or close your eyes and imagine something else - or it might respond to a mopping if you're a masochist), but I don't remember the last time it had a bucket of water thrown over it. It does have the odd small dent/scratch and with 3 missing wheeltrims and a missing plastic trim piece below the bumper. The interior is cloth and also a bit dirty. Mechanically sound, gear lever feels a bit loose, probably worn linkages. Gears work fine though, goes into gear ok and stays there as expected. It's been very reliable and has never broken down - my aunt has owned it for about 16/17 years - I think she bought it 'nearly new' from Volvo which would make her 2nd owner.I think I remember that the tyres have good tread although I cant remember if they're budget brands (I think they are).Has been regularly serviced, mileage is under 100,000.MOT until mid-august 2017. (no advisories, never seems to have had any nor any failures!)Tax to get you home. Car is in Wembley, NW London - Aunt would like £225 for it but I imagine she'll take an offer! ++ UPDATE: This is now a £4 £3 a pop ROFFLE! OMGBARGAINBROWNOVLOV!!! +++ ++UPDATE: purplebargeken is winner!! ++I know there is a lot more detail I should provide so if there is any interest I'll find out the rest (mileage, service history etc). Here are some (delightful) pics I took - I was in a rush so apologies for no interior pics or for appropriate framing etc. Apologies for the crappy advert! Do let me know if I've done anything incorrectly or if you want more info. Pisstaking entirely welcome! alcyonecorporation and Supernaut
alcyonecorporation
Would 'smellypoo' appear anywhere on the logbook? S/V40s always had a bit of a wibbly gear change. It was probably like that from new. smellypoo
smellypoo
Sadly, 'smellypoo' would not be on the logbook anywhere! Although it'd be tempting to use that to describe the colour. re: Gearchange - it's hard to describe accurately but I think it's a bit more wibbly than the wibblyness it would have had from new. robinmasters
I did the bushes on the gear linkage on a V40 I had, seem remember it was fairly easy. And cheap. smellypoo
rantingYoof
I know this is a very inappropriate suggestion given it's kindly being offered for sale on on behalf of someone else, but I would take four £4 roffle tickets (a fully sold out roffle would achieve greater than £225)! smellypoo

smellypoo
Now that's an idea, I've never run a roffle before. I'll give my Aunt a call and see if she's up for it (I can't think why not but I can picture a face of bemusement that a: her car will be a roffle 'prize' and b:Autoshite exists and her nephew is involved!) - watch this space! Update: WhatsApp message sent to my Aunt. She's not read it yet but when she does I'm awaiting a reply of 'WTF?!!' chaseracer and The Moog
Jazoli
I saw this yesterday whilst sat in Wembley having a brew, thankfully my train was on time and I'm now safe 250 miles away at work, I have a strange addiction to cheap cars that I have no use for... smellypoo
Ok. Aunt has responded. Roffle has been given the green light! Now how to set this thing up - I take it I just do a list of numbers and maintain it with peoples names?
Supernaut
yep, numbers 1-59, when all numbers are taken, you ask for the payments, then once all the payments are in (payments done via paypal gifts), the decider is the next National Lottery bonus ball. I'll have a random, please. smellypoo
smellypoo
Ok. Roffle commences. If I'm doing something wrong, please let me know, this is my roffle-running cherry. I've popped the roffle-entry one already. I shamelessly stole the list of numbers from someone else's roffle to save on typing them in... 1 chatsharris2 phil_lihp3 rantingYoof4 Supernaut5 holbeck6 Nyphur7 barmatt8 purplebargeken9 Stephen0110 gadgetgricey11 Craig the Princess12 chatsharris13 cms20614 The Moog15 cms20616 purplebargeken17 purplebargeken18 ifc6319 BenHar20 cms20621 purplebargeken22 chatsharris23 purplebargeken24 rantingYoof25 AMC Rebel26 Supernaut27 UltraWomble28 gadgetgricey29 Nyphur30 The Moog31 AMC Rebel32 purplebargeken33 Craig the Princess34 Cavcraft35 rantingYoof36 doobietoo37 UltraWomble38 chatsharris39 purplebargeken.40 purplebargeken.41 chatsharris42 BenHar43 UltraWomble44 gadgetgricey45 chatsharris46 barmatt47 Bucketeer48 rantingYoof49 rantingYoof50 rantingYoof51 Cavcraft52 The Moog53 Supernaut54 phil_lihp55 chatsharris56 barmatt57 Bucketeer58 rantingYoof59 barefoot

She's my mum's older sister - my mum still doesn't have a 'smart'phone. Still, they're both much more tech savvy than my Dad, he's hopeless.
