A bit more on this today.

Welding all finished and paint applied to relevant areas. Due to a lack of correct paint at Halfords black was used.

Windows were put back in.

Robin is most likely going to get the correct paint at some point and make it look prettier.

Just waiting on the parts arriving for the ball joints and rear bushes then it can go back for the pass certificate.

And for my next trick, I'm going to revive the fixed gear I spent all of my money on when I was 18. I rode it lots and lots when it was made out of random bits I had lying around, but as soon as I actually put any money into it I lost a lot of interest, in part because I didn't want to do a very hilly 10 mile commute on a heavily geared fixie. Mechanically it's perfect, everything is about 50 miles old except for the headset but they last forever. I just want to make it shiny again! Not really car related, but the pug is in the background so there.

You can also see in the background my immaculate (if dusty) Raleigh Corsa, which will get the same treatment, if only to take very 80s magazine shots of it with the pug.

Great looking job on the welding, I couldn't 100% tell but was the window frame rusted on the inside?

I cannot take any credit at all for the welding unfortunately!

And yes, right at the bottom front corners, obviously water can get at it from somewhere, they were about the consistency of tissue paper

No real photos of the last of the work, but a final update for now:

New bottom arm fitted, brakes to be refitted after the other side fitted.

The other side being finished off. Very shortly after this photo a phone call was made to the garage to see if he could fit us in for a retest, not really was the answer closely followed by how soon can you get here. This was at 8:40 with the brakes still to be put back.

This was about 9:40 and the deed was done and about to leave with a piece of paper with the correct writing on it.

The 205 needs some attention to catch it before it deteriorates, the underseal is detached and that is holding moisture in, Robin has a fun* task ahead of him!

On my way home from work this morning I discovered just how desructive bird strikes can be...

...for the bird that is.

RIP fattest and stupidest pigeon ever. How do I clean bird from car?e2f98bbb85ddd93893e45157eca121f3.jpgea4d30413779c3d87ac9dc1f9b82bffd.jpg

Mrs FL had a pigeon come through the open drivers window, smack her in the face then embed itself in the rear window and land in the boot, this was about 4 years ago, I'm still finding feathers in the car..

Some Volvos aren't so lucky - this one was in NRM car park some years ago:

See, glass headlights are superior!

I'm actually surprised there's no damage to the car, I was pushing on a bit because 4am and it was a direct hit. The drivers headlight is noticeably foggier than the passengers now, but hopefully that'll clean off.

Does anyone need any parts from my 850? First facelift 2.5 10v.

I'm keeping most of the interior and lights, wing mirrors and wings are already spoken for, but pretty much everything else is up for grabs if anyone needs anything! It needs gone reasonably soon, but I'll probably be stripping it of everything I can without impeding its ability to get unceremoniously dragged onto a trailer. Quite sad to see it go, but there's too much to be sorted for my time, budget and experience to deal with when there's a far better prospect on offer. This I believe is currently part of a secret plan so won't let on too much about it yet.

As seen at Shitefest 2018! No, not that one, the other one.

Is it an auto ?

Are you keeping the gear shift changer handle thing?

If not will it fit a ph1 v70?

The map book pocket under the glove box would also be useful, but guess that is interior...

Thanks, dan.

This one is a manual, even so I think the V70 had a different part.

I can't quite figure out which bit you're on about, do you have a picture of what you're after?

Not quite as simple to take apart as the 205, but it's not taken much more time! Dash, door cards and carpet still to come out of the interior, but that can happen once it's parked up and sorned.97ccfce1f03d318d58ac7cd310c65ea9.jpg

Deid 850 eh? 1. Will the nearside rear door fit an estate and 2. What are the odds of getting it here (across water) without smashage?

Also missing the left one of the seat belt warning lenses, above rear view mirror, is that present?

As said, it's doubtful it'd manage to make it, though I do think it'd fit.

Seat belt warning lights are present, they're much more likely to survive transit!

Are you keeping the dash cluster? I'd quite like a trip counter for mine.

Oh, what are the rear bumper mounts/bumpers like? They'd be an easy swap for my scruffy ones. And roof trims if they're in decent nick.

Not keeping the dash cluster, so it's available. Trip counter doesn't work but tiny cog of cheese could be included.

Rear bumper is fine as far as I know besides one scuff that came with the car, never seen the mounts but probably fine. The roof trims are literally made of hammerite.

Not trip counter, trip computer, my bad. Would need cable and switch to go with it please. Rear bumper sounds no better than mine but the mounts would be very handy as mine are crunchy.

I'll see to extracting it soon, shouldn't cause too much bother since I'm pretty sure it's been added on by a previous owner. Shall bring with me to armarmaladale
