FOR SALE - 1988 Citroen BX 19 GTI 8v - East Sussex

You may have spotted this on Ebay recently with broken suspension - but I thought it was worth paying for it to be fixed before selling it. The LHM leaks have now been fixed so it's driveable again - so I may as well advertise it properly.

It's the ex-JohnK BX GTI, as seen at SF16. Previous For Sale thread here: http://autoshite.com/topic/24609-1988-f-citroen-bx-19-gti-8v-%C2%A3500-teesside/

It's still MOTd until 04 February 2017 and I haven't done much with it other than use it (not much though) and fix the suspension leak. Too many cars and not enough money means it has to go.

The glovebox is still in the boot, the dash binnacle still rattles and the speedo, odometer and radio still don't work. It's also still got a blow from the exhaust manifold gasket (I think) which means it runs a bit rubbish sometimes, and the driver's seat is still a bit different to the rest.

It seems solid though, and is fun to drive even when it's not running quite right. With that sorted it'd be an ace thing. The suspension/brakes/steering all seem fine now but there are still a couple of minor LHM leaks I think so I'd keep an eye on the level occasionally. 4x electric windows and sunroof all work, I think one rear door doesn't unlock with the central locking.

It's currently in Lewes, East Sussex, and needs to go quite soon. I'm pricing it at£500, which is what I paid John for it, as although I've spent money on it it's now got a shorter MOT. I think that's fair considering the price of similar cars.

Would possibly ROFFLE if enough interest, but I think there's a few of those on the go at the moment.

PICS:

Get yourself to Milton Keynes bus or train, I will give you Free Lift to Brighton and then you can drive it home.

Cheap flight to Gatwick, 40 minutes on the train to Brighton then a gentle drive home for Christmas.

I'm not sure you'll get bottles of LHM on as hand luggage though.

I hear you both, but finding the time to do it is the main problem.

Tell you what, BX's just look better and better with age.

I'd love to try a pez one, i loved mine but dizzlers just ain't for me.

That's pretty much the conclusion I reached. The XUD is a marvellous diesel engine, but it's still a diesel engine. Injected 1.9 seems a pretty ideal choice for a BX.

I decided never to own an XUD-powered vehicle again. Ah...

It would - it could be a nice thing with a bit of effort.

Sadly although the hydraulics have now been fixed it's now running like an UTTER BASTARD - like running on 3 or something, I imagine it's something simple but my skills and finances won't entertain fixing it at the moment (and the exhaust manifold gasket (according to my mechanic) is still fucked).

So - £400? Or £7 ROFFLE?

I really cant be arsed to advertise it to 'normal' people.

Is it still not running right? I do really like the look of this even though it's a bit rubbish. I'm having fantasies about putting the proper wheels, bumpers etc on it and getting my mechanic to do a full chequebook engine rebuild on it but frankly Ive got enough of the cunting things already.

Somebody buy it!
