So went to see them today. Old aged owner has died and the relatives have pushed it out of the garage to scrap it.

Sadly I couldnt have it myself as the other half would have my knackers for a hat  Shame as I really like these and this is like my old 1 in the 80's/90's (VLO975S).I have got a mate to have it-I think a couple of weekends work should have it on the road again. Nothing has locked solid-the body/paint looks really good too.

That looks a decent buy for £150! Looks like all the trim and bits are there.Excellent save, that will make a nice summer motor for someone. If there is a next life, then its would be nice to think that the elderly previous owner will be pleased that someone has saved a car that has clearly been looked after since new :)

I'd say thats cheap!Looks amazingly good, would have been a real shame to scrap it but I suppose it must happen a fair number of times when someone dies.

Agreed, although I do think most breakers are pretty savvy about classics and motors with 'retro' appeal these days. If they can chuck it on the bay and get £200 in one piece I think they're increasingly likely to do so, rather than hiab it on top of a knackered Vectra in the hope that someone will come in looking for a spare dynamo or something. This reminds me - I fragged in our Renault Laguna the other day at a breakers/metal recyclers in Aldershot (not Dean Woods Exports, the one next door). In the yard and ready to go on Ebay was a 1967 FC Victor VX4/90 saloon. Complete and definitely saveable, I'll keep an eye out for that one. It's a rare car and looks to be well worth saving. Pretty sure it had been brought in due to a 'bereavement' clearout, from what the guys in the yard told me.Makes me wonder what would happen to my A60 etc if I were to fall under the Number 38 bus tomorrow....

I agree, they appear to recognise what might be of use to some people. A couple near me put older cars on the tops of those big metal storage containers out of the way. :)
