purplebargeken
Oh hallafuckingluja, it finally works! A Daf 'carbecue' This 55 saloon is much worse than it looks, although it is a runner! Rear view, ah. Oh dear. It will yield useful parts though Own a daf? Need some spares? Step this way........ Wheels? Just a few. Seats? Yep. Steering wheels and exhaust bits? Hell yeah. You get the idea. It's all a mix of used, NOS stuff. Bloody useful to have access to in all honesty. Now the cars..... The little blue 33 was Sam Glovers car. 55 Estate, was a daily but needs brakes fixing and something else but I can't recall. This is a Volvo 66 1300. It needs a water pump, rad, passenger side wing, bonnet, primary gearbox thingy and a small bit of welding on a sill. The bits are available in the parts department and a spares 66 is due in soon. Otherwise the car is solid and has a lovely interior! More later Asimo, mercrocker, chaseracer and 13 others
mercrocker
Flippin awesome, I love places like that, devoted to a single marque. My mates Dad had a blue 33 van like that when we were nippers, I had all but forgotten it until I saw this. purplebargeken

purplebargeken
They have bags of character and are as quirky as hell. There are only a couple of the vans around in the UK, they are as rare as a rare thing.
purplebargeken
More............ the blue Volvo 66. Looks worse than it actually is. The missing front panel is in the boot and is in good condition. As are the missing lights. I may* have agreed to work on the blue 66. purplebargeken
Engine bay is quite solid and the engine turns by hand. MM: if you fancy a cute blue Daf 33 ............ Uncle Jimmy, MarvinsMom, chaseracer and 2 others

Uncle Jimmy
Luvvin it. Daf is up there with Volvo, Saab and Simca in the Pantheon of motor manufacturing greats. Quite obviously. Joey spud and Shep Shepherd

Eddie Honda
There are only a couple of the vans around in the UK, they are as rare as a rare thing. Well I only know of one van (that one, with 4 side windows) and the other is technically a Combi (2 side windows and a rear seat). The only other (RHD) van I can think of is owned by a mate of mine and isn't in the UK...
mercrocker
For the info, my mate's Dad's van was dark blue, no rear seat or side windows. It was supplied new around 1973 if I remember correctly. The bloke was a serial shiter long before it became a thing. Ought to do a thread on him one day! Needless to say, I didn't take any bloody photos but I do still have the brochure he gave me. Joey spud
Many happy memories here.Back in circa 1982 my dad replaced his caramel beige N reg 750cc Robin for a blue P reg Daf 46. It was a strange thing but after a fleet of Tamworths finest, the access to the air cooled twin was a revelation. From what i recall it had a single belt drive system and the engine was always racing and poor on fuel (may have been how my dad drove it mind) and it had an appetite for snapping it's speedo cable where it went into the front hub. Back then there were loads in the scrappies so sunday morning visits to 'Mollys' or 'Strood car breakers' kept us topped up with the essentials. My dad was an Engineer for the Port of London Authority looking after their survey vessels berthed at Gravesend (The Havengore and Maplin for any boat nerds out there) and ''borrowed'' some Rottela 30 grade oil that was used in his ancient straight 8 Gardner engines to give the Daf an oil change. While the straight 30 grade oil was ok in the Reliants it was too thick for the Daf and it became a sod to start and sluggish when the weather turned cold so he begrudgingly had to go a buy the correct (10w/30 ?) oil for it. Years later we bought a white 44 with a knocking engine off a neighbour for £25,it turned out the fuel pump was leaking and slowly filling the little engines sump up diluting its oil and totally wrecking it,but a spare engine of unknown condition was dragged out from under the work bench and slotted it and it was sold on for a fair profit. That blue 33 looks rather 'rakish' without the front bumper and i would love give it a home if i could. Shep Shepherd and Uncle Jimmy
