matty879
Wow the cavalier is an exact clone of my mums last one -B827WCK. Long since dead. I need some 80's vaux chod in my life.my mum had a burgundy 1.6 ckx 609 x it was a saloon,i remember it as steel wheels (with vauxhall trims) and creamy seats, maybe magnolia, even at a young age (around 13) i thought it had a nice stance, and looked cool, but she had 3 little bastards to look after so went for the hatchback c410wfs in red,by that time i just bought my first fizzy so never had to get into it,as for that cav me wants it but to far away
nisfan
On tuesday i said goodbye to the laurel. Ever since i saw a photograph of the front end of one on somebodies driveway years ago i wanted one. I thought what is THAT, i have to have one.Well many years later the chance arose as FOAD had arranged a meet at the Morris Leslie auction and at the auction was a Laurel! After chatting to the auction manager he said it should go for a price i could afford and was kind enough to let me have a good look at it and start it, of which i should have walked away after hearing the blowing manifold, but clouded by my love of its looks i bought it.I spent many weeks trying to get it running right and doing many other things but at the back of my mind was "I dont actually like this very much" , i stuck with it and done a few odds and ends but it still needed a lot of other things that would of been a pain to fix.So after 8 months i sold it and was glad to be rid of it, it should have stayed as a car i would like to own but never will. Talking of Morris Leslie Auctions the Cavalier will be up for auction there on November 19th, wonder how much it will go for or actually sell..... nisfan
After FOAD bought an E28, i really wanted one and have for years so one came up for sale local and i decided to go for it! Its a very clean 525e, had a bit of work done. Only faults are the clocks are away to buggery, according to them i didnt get above 15mph and 1500rpm and i have a full tank of fuel (which i dont), only working gauge is the temp and this is after the previous owner replacing the clocks. When pulling away there is a hesitation/feels like its going to die and a weird noise from the back but overall im happy and its a car my MOT tester knows well and also said its had a load of work done. scruff, Shep Shepherd, oldcars and 10 others

Steviemillar
Very nice, I was eyeing that up on The Blue. The one I had was a cracking car, a great cruiser and a realistic low 30s mpg too. One of my biggest motoring regrets was selling it (bought by Cort16 ) cort16
Magnificent Rustbucket
Lovely old things, the 525e. I find the 2.7 litre 'eta' engine an interesting concept interesting too. TRX wheels - or the other similar kind?
nisfan
That's a pic of before I bought it, not had really had a chance to get any yet, it's on 14inch bottle tops so no metric tyres here, thank fuck Magnificent Rustbucket and DodgyBastard

One of my biggest motoring regrets was selling it (bought by Cort16 ) Ah, that was you? I saw that car a few weeks ago for the first time since I sold it. The mot history shows it must have had a shit ton of welding, which is weird as it was the most solid one I've seen . It was a weird spec , recaros, mtec front spoiler and wind up windows. It is quite a peculiar drive though. Lots of torque and really low rpm redline.
Jim Bell
That looks like a real winner dude. Well played (again). You sure know how to pick em (pun intended). I'm yet to scratch the BMW itch. Really must get round to it one day.

nisfan
Well i took the clocks apart and found the Service indicator batteries to be in a decent condition, they usually corrode and bugger the circuit board. Put them back in and they were still the same until today after a 4 days of not using it i got in it and they worked perfect again until i got back in it and they were back to no worky.Ive fixed the fuel gauge , all it needed was the was the nut tightening. It now seems to be returning a very respectable mpg overrun, Lacquer Peel, Steviemillar and 4 others
nisfan
With winter coming in fast i thought it was time to move the barry civic off my drive and over to the unit for rust repairs and brakes.I havent used it much and when i did it would run like shite after 5 or so minutes then clear and like normal it did this on the way to the unit, meh i thought it'll clear, but i never got the chance as after i moved it into its spot it died and wouldnt start again. Im at a total loss as its efi,mpi,16v,crank sensor, injectors etc etc. Ive tried loads of shit and its not for running, could be a multitude of things, it doin ma ead in!!!!Now i had planned on fitting a more powerful engine so i could experience ZE-TEC but i need the current one running for now.Have a photo of the crusty, paper thin metaled turd, overrun

nisfan
The stanza started the next morning so it's been performing daily duties again, including a bloody monsoon mixed with sleet this morning, handled it no bother, so much rain steam was pishing from the grill ( not overheating)
nisfan
Well the Cavalier didnt sell at the auction, oh well. Im looking to do a few things to it before i try and sell it again. In the meantime ive decided to change the colour of the 18 to white, ive had to sand the rollered paint off and its something i never want to do ever again, ever. A total PITA, its still not smooth but fuck it im not doing anymore. This is how it stands just now, Everything is red, gonna have to blast off the dust and wash it then its on with the paint! nisfan
Keep it as is and call it shat look.Nitromors and a scraper wont work nowadays, willing the paint to fall off would work better, i think theyve removed the stuff that gives you aids but also gets the paint off.All masked up but no pics as phone deed. Richard
I once read that turps would clean oil off your hands and figured Nitromors must be the same thing because it said "paint remover" on the tin. Proper Nitromors because I am old. Quite nippy. I believe there is something you can buy now that does what Nitromors used to, but I can't remember what it is.
