607 diesel auto SE SOLD

I am at Victoria station waiting for the 10:36 to Maidstone East to pick up my diesel Jag.

Unless it explodes on the way home this means that the 607 is for sale.

Currently it has mot until until Oct/Nov from memory, but I might take it to the local no pass no fee place and get 12 months on it.

It has 180,000 miles.

Light blue paint with good bodywork.

Many, many toys which all work.

A fancy removable tow hitch but I never got round to wiring it up, though I do have an official Peugeot wiring kit for it.

It's a 2001 so flat rate tax.

Dpf and cat removed and ecu reprogrammed to suit.

Egr blanked off.

No DMF as it's an auto.

I have a spare set of rims with winter tyres. The tyre pressure sensors work on all 8 rims but you do have to reprogram them each time you swap, or ignore the warnings.

The car has been neorotically maintained by me for the eight years and 120,000 miles I have owned it including a couple of transmission oil changes using the correct Esso Lt oil.

Being a 2.2 it has the stronger Zf 4HP20 gearbox.

It freaked me out over the winter by starting to loose coolant (about 1 litre in 400 miles) but a dose of K seal has totally stopped that.

So why am I selling it?

I have some cash now to buy something for the next ten years, but next year I will likely have a kid at uni, and then another and then another. Also I am expecting a drop in income, so it is now or never. In a few years time there won't be any decent x350 diesel jags left.

With my mileage the 607 will be dead in a couple of years, and it's too good for that.

The suspension is surprisingly hard and short travel (though the new front shocks are becoming more compliant now).

It is a bit slow off the line. 1st gear is too tall and so the turbo doesn't wake up for ages. Once it's moving it's okay though and a brilliant motorway car.

I'm not entirely sure that outing it is a good idea yet, but I have made my bed now...

Photos and list of faults to follow.

The faults.

It has always felt to me like the engine moves a bit more than it should, so maybe a dodgy engine mount.

The mono screen is nearly unreadable. You can get replacements from bba reman. Also I have a colour screen and all the bits to fit it but I think that to colour screen ecu is programmed to radio cassette and I have GSM phone/ radio so that would need reprogramming.

The ABS seems oversensitive at low speeds but no warning lights.

One of the front caliper sliding pins keeps seizing up but currently it's greased up and free.

A piece of plastic trim on the drivers seat is loose.

The drivers door card is internally cracked where you rest your arm. You can't see it but you can feel it.

The satnav voice is silent and the disc over ten years old, so basically useless.

The steering height adjustment is sloppy. Edit: Now fixed.

The front subframe and crossmember under the rad are a bit rusty but the MOT man seems OK with it.

The driver door mirror folding action can be a bit sticky, especially when it's cold. I have a spare mirror though.

The outside air temp sensor reads a few degrees too cold so you get ice warnings too soon.

The boot carpet is filthy.

The drivers door central locking occasionally sticks locked, you have to relocate and unlock again to open the door. It is very occasional though.

The volume stalk is rubbish.

Later on I will walk round the car and see what else I can think of.

I will now attempt to list the toys...

Tyre pressure sensors

Dual zone climatronic Ac

Heated seats front and rear

Electric seats

Rain sensing wipers

6 disc CD changer or ipod input (your choice). The ipad input has full disc/track control from the stalk

Rear blind which is brilliant if someone comes up behind flashing (It says basically, I can't see you, you don't exist)

Blown bulb warnings

Four electric windows (all Laminated)

Cruise control

Self folding mirrors. I use these a lot manually for narrow roads.

17" alloys x5

Remote boot release from the fobs.

Self dipping rear view mirror.

Refrigerated glove box.

Headlight electric height adjust.

JBL stereo amp.

Tiptronic manual override on the gearbox.

This one shows the LEDs that I buried inside the front fogs (which still work as normal).  They are a bit brighter than the photo shows.

The wheels do have some paint damage.  I painted them with ordinary celulose silver base and two pack laquer, I have the paint code so the can be touched up with the same colour (it's the same colour as the bodywork of the 806 that we had).

There's a funny bit on the rear wing next to the tailgate where the paint came out matt

The paint has bubbled on the trim between front and back windows.  I think that these are aluminium

I scratched the edge of the door mirror a few weeks ago

The interior is excellent, no tears or wear on the seats. They are as comfortable as they look
