That's it for advisories? Wow.

I will, however, retract my fevered DIIIBS for now, as I've agreed to view something else this coming weekend. It couldn't be any more different from an LS400 if I tried.
It has less than half the mileage of Mason, and is 11 years newer.

No worries on dropping out,  i'm hoping it'll stay on the forum.

But, and this is the key question, how many cylinders does it have?

I dunno, I'm open to offers!

Edited to say I'm not sure how much to ask. I'd feel bad making money off it but it's kinda hard not to! I'd rather see it go to someone who will use it and look after it.

4, unfortunately.

If Mason does stay on the forum, I still have some lovely wheels for him. The only problem is they're in Aberdeen, and Mason is in Fife.

Never said I was completely dropping out, the car I view may be a pile of shit. However, that's a very slim possibility. It's being sold by my colleague's son and has a fresh MOT and 4 brand new tyres and has apparently been very well looked after. I may be able to get a look at it during the weekend.

I would most likely be interested in a ticket too if there was a raffle (especially for a fiver), even though it is at the other side of the country, too big to park on the driveway and too expensive for me to insure.

It is however, the opportunity to own a V8 before I am 20, so consider me interested.

So this is tempting for a roffle...

Achievement unlocked.

After a brief text conversation a meeting was arranged for this morning with a view to a swappage.

This was a rarity-a seemingly normal human being on Gumtree.

We exchanged keys and drove each others vehicles. Upon return we kept the keys we had been handed and completed the paperwork. I then proceeded home in somewhat more comfort than I had arrived in.

attachicon.gifDSC_0249.JPG

Rule 1 of Autoshite collection acheived.

attachicon.gifDSC_0251.JPG

It is a 3.0l manual with NO LEATHER! And slightly disappointingly, no cruise control. Initial impressions from the drive home-very quiet, engine pulls well but needs some revs on it before it really moves. Feels more like an American Ford (I imagine) than a Jag but I've only had XJ6s so the bar was set high.

Apparently genuine 64k and giffer owned. No obvious rattles.

Isuues I was told of

Heater controls don't blow hot-apparently a valve somewhere "easy to get at". Hmm

Other issues:

Drivers check strap broken

Both fobs dead-will try new batteries obv.

Scratch on front bumper

There appears to be giffer leds fitted.

Bit wiffy inside

And no doubt more to follow...

Loved my S Type, 3.0 in an Auto. It caused my first 3 endorsements on my license lol.

Had it two years, went through MOT with nothing but a Pass. Actually I lie, once it failed due to a failed washer bottle pump. I had apparently from factory, Special Alloys fitted, they where really nice and have seen no other S Type with these stock rims.

Miss it, fantastic car. Moved house and could no longer afford to insure it.

Sigh :-( . I'd have another one tomorrow.

Well, apologies to all who showed an interest but as you no doubt know 320touring of this parish has taken custardy of the Lexus. He'd expressed an interest a while ago and I may* have encouraged him somewhat.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Mason. I'd loved LS400s since reading about them when it was launched and then driving one when I worked at a hotel in my teens. It lived up to everything I'd expected. Quiet, smooth, supremely comfortable and a feeling of quality engineering. However, with the arrival of the S4 it was time to thin the fleet down. I hope it does you well Neil.

The S4 has been fab, when I actually get a chance to drive it. Mrs Dome seems to have taken a liking to it too, especially now it's back to full power...

It was on cross country duty yesterday, from Fife to Glenluce and back via Neils house on the way down to drop the Lexus off. After 260 miles on LPG I was liberated of £33 to fill it back up. I can live with that. It's burbles along nicely on part throttle with only a squeeze required to pass traffic. Drop a gear or two and nail it and it's just silly. In a good way :)

I still have my RS4 rear anti roll bar to fit and today my cruise control switch arrived, I just need to work out how to get it coded. It won't be this weekend though as I'm off cycling round the Hebrides!

I've not cancelled the Lexus insurance so there's always potential for more shite. In the meantime though, I have a small kit car needing driven and a complete fuel system overhaul.

In an attempt to keep my car clean with minimal effort I decided to purchase a Snow Foam attachment for my pressure washer.

The idea is the thick foam dislodges the dirt and then allows you to jetwash it off.I believe more serious car cleaning types do it as a kind of prewash. My hope was that doing this regularly would be quicker and easier than attacking it with a bucket (or God forbid even two...) and  sponge.

So, here goes.

Foam on. Still getting to grips with my nozzle...

IMG_20170425_190408637_HDR.jpg

IMG_20170425_190417579_HDR.jpg

Apart from attacking the bugs on the front this hasn't been touched by a sponge. Incidentally whatever wax the previous owner used is fantastic, I've never seen a car bead water like this one does.

And the results this morning.

IMG_20170426_080658162.jpg IMG_20170426_080709526.jpg IMG_20170426_080714595.jpg IMG_20170426_080726801_HDR.jpg

Pretty happy with that. There are watermarks on it though, if anyone knows how to stop them happening with little or no effort I'm listening...

The efforty way to avoid watermarks on an otherwise good surface is chamois. But that's efforty.
Sweeping the water off with a long wiper blade (or silicon strip if you can find such a thing) and keeping it cool and shaded is much less efforty.
