Volvo 440 glei automatic. Mot till March 2017. 78500 on clock and will rise untill sold. Starts and drives fine. New springs fitted on the rear,New rad cap,New tyre and tracking and finally a alternator. Had New wishbone, track rod end and rear upright for mot. Has electric windows, roof and pas. Very comfy car. Now for the bad bits.rear indicator lens has some repair tape on it,rear passenger sill along bottom of the door dented (high kerb maybe?) Small rust patch on rear quarter near bootlid, small rust patch on boot near handle,no wheel trims either. Has a weeping radiator too but since fitting New cap hardly uses any water. Doesn't overheat and I've done 4k in it. Foam in headrests disintegrated in the rear too. Overall I've tried to be as honest as possible about it. It's a perfectly usable older car. Towbar and working electrics as well. I need to sell as due to personal matters I can't afford the insurance etc. May consider swaps on a diesel or medium sized petrol up to 1.4. Car is in Ripley near Derby and I don't mind collecting from train stations or even east mids airport. Will upload pics tomorrow.

Oh dear.

I've personally found that our 2002 Astra G mk4 (1.6 16v manual flavour) is consistently the cheapest vehicle I ever get quotes on out of all the quotes I've done on different cars. No idea why?

I get quotes of £280 p/y for a fresh policy, 0yrs ncb, 2x 30yr old (2x windscreen claims, 1x non-fault accident) and £250 excess full comp - living in Bristol postcode (but out of the centre admittedly). Small engine + car size doesn't necessarily make it the cheapest on the insurance.

Instead of selling on here, why not sell on gumtree/retrorides/ebay/etc and try get the most for it? That way it should give you more cash to get something a bit more decent and less bottom of the barrel price for the next car.

Another thing to bare in mind. Unless the insurance is ridiculously high for you (and completely unaffordable), getting something else may save you on insurance but cost you in repairs. Something not to forget to weight up that its a risk changing from something that is working well.

I'm not wanting to dictate of course! Just I don't want to see you making a decision you may regret.

I'd like it to live on and have a fighting chance at surviving some more years so offered it here as my first port of call. Don't go on retrorides and I doubt my temperament could tolerate eBay and especially gumtree at the moment. As for insurance,it's costing me nearly 200 a month and I can't afford it now also mpg is only high 20s. All I want is what it owes hence why I've offered it here at the price. No profit just need quick sale to get something with cheaper insurance and slightly better mpg.

I have no idea what the Volvo is worth, but don't be scared of making a profit imo. It may have been donated, but it is your car, you own it and for you to make the decisions on. I'm sure that everyone here doesn't want to see you pulled into the ground by owning something that is costing you an arm + leg to keep moving.

If by making the market value of it back means you can get a more decent motor to replace it, I'm sure that is what everyone here would like to see.

Looks a tidy thing, too, Bub.   Even the colour is nice - sort of a non-peeling Ford Light Orchid.  Just wish I could justify another square 90s throwback.  Even the number plate appeals to the Rude Kid in me.   Somebody on here should be along with some money I would have thought.......
