I’ve got a pair of new old stock 1.6 wing badges but mine being early should have the 1600 wing shields, so I’ll probably get a pair of those instead.
Weren’t the wing shields colour coded depending on which type of engine was fitted? I’m fairly sure the type I need should the black ones?

A few different styles available. Looks like the black ones with diagonal line are for 1600L.
(A pair currently on ebay, £30 bin, ouch !. I used to collect this sort of thing from scrappies as a wee boy. Had hundreds of different kinds, was fascinated by little detail differences which usually went un-noticed. Threw / gave them all away when I started driving in 1986.

Looks beautiful Dan. As I have said before, 4 banger capris are nice in a way that V6's are'nt.

My dad worked on the production line at Halewood from 1969 -74. It is possible he is responsible for some of the spotwelds on your motah.

Sweet! I’ll have a look out for a pair of the black with diagonal stripe wing shields then.
I’ve got two of the original early L badges, the worn original and a new old stock that’ll be going on the car.
Got the ‘Capri’ and ‘FORD’ badges. And I’ve got two new ‘II’ vinyl logos for the tailgate too.

Those wing shields, I’m sure I read somewhere the colour related to the engine type (red Xflow, black Pinto) and the logo in the coloured bit related to cars spec. Might be wrong though?


Cars staying in the garage this weekend. I’ve got other tasks to do unfortunately involving replacing fence posts in the garden.
Plan of attack though to start off:

Order shit loads of Dynax S50 wax, sound deadening pads for the floors and inside various panels etc.
Order new brake line kit. Order new wiring looms.
Fit sound deadening pads, pump car fat with cavity wax. Then refit new looms and brake lines. Then handbrake cable, clutch cable etc.
Once that’s done I can start refitting the engine bay, fuel tank and pipes and dashboard/steering column etc.

I would love to be able to afford a Mk2 Capri, esp a 1.6 Pinto. There is a brown mk1 in Septic spec minus bumpers on egay atm for daft money, that appears to have a pinto in it, I think it is a 2.0.

 

My perfect spec Capri 2 would be a 1600L in dark green, with black vinyl roof, and tacky white Weller steels, and Dixie air horn, cream interior on it too

Just ordered a load more bits. With any luck the rebuild should start next weekend, assuming the first bits I need arrive in time.

On order are:
Sound deadening/heat reflective pads for interior are, floorpans etc.
Cavity wax. I’ve stuck to the Bilt Hamber products as it’s worked best for me in the past. 8 cans of Dynax S50 for the box sections and panel cavity’s (already got 2 cans here) and 2 cans of the clear UB wax for areas subjected to lots of potential wet/damp etc but that I want the body colour to show still.
These bits will get done first as access will be as good as it’ll ever get to put it all into the shell. The waxing job sucks arse but it’s got to be done, on a hot day ideally! Joy!

Some parts I’ve got ordered aswell for the follow on jobs from the above:
Heater matrix.
Heater resistor.
Heater box seals.
Heater hoses.
Bonnet release cable.
Throttle cable.
Clutch cable.
Speedo cable.
Tailgate gas rams.
Brake + clutch pedal bush kit.
Wiper mech seals.
Exterior door handle to body seals.

And since I like shiny shit:
Brand new old stock pair 1600 black with oblique wing shield badges as seen on the previous page here.
A pair of the correct door mirrors. These being rare as fuck and only used between Jan 74 and Nov 74. I’ve been after these for years and these ones (from a place in Germany) might or might not actually be available but if you don’t try you don’t get right!?
If I can’t get them I might opt for the very similar mirrors fitted to mk1 Capri’s which you can still get. Just have to see.

Next items to get are the brake line kit and sort the wiring looms.
