Whilst we were in there we found this
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2019041...

Any ideas what it is for?

One thing that has stopped working is the oil pressure and STOP light on the dash.

That's the dim-dip resistor - with the engine running and side-lights on, the headlight bulbs should illuminate dimly.

It's meant to be clipped on to the N/S headlight panel, but the clips have usually rusted away and it's left swinging in the breeze.  Pipe clip works well as a replacement, but the resistor can be removed with no ill-effect.

The lack of oil pressure and STOP light will likely either be the oil pressure switch on the front of the block or more likely the connection/wiring for it.  Short the wiring to the block (ground) and the lights should illuminate if all is well with the wiring and bulbs.

Golf keeps surprising me.

Serviced today with Mr Leeds for total sum of £50 ISH, including oil, air, fuel filters and wipers changed.

Also found out it has VW connect. I had never heard of this before. My brother said he got it with the car.

So it is basically an OBD2 connector plus a VW app.

Some of the things you can see on the app

It's pretty neat and can book services or oil changes with the dealer. Has got the Vin number and car details.

Nice little touch really.

Ordered a new driver light switch as the old one is really worn - £7 delivered - that is bargainous.

The total interior needs a deep clean. Will do some interior shots when I get a chance.

As it stands I have got a golf, fsh, brand new Michelins all round, new clutch and DMF with MOT till December for £550.

Everything works which is unusual for me.

100% SPEED.

I don't have a 320touring, but I am raffling a 320coupe, which previously belonged to 320touring.

Driven golf to the wonders of Cardiff and it has decided to show its gratitude by doing this
6f28f4fc6f9f780241aba98d2ce6cc2d.jpg

No issue, I have got a Bluetooth OBD2 VW connector in the car. Except it will only pair to the VW app and when it does it basically says to pull over and then it will phone the dealer for you.

Bugger.

Will just turn the stereo up until I get back.

Does an amber EML mean 'warning' and a red one mean 'STOP'?

Just a warning, and it could be on for something as simple as a brake light being out (Yes really).

Code reader says

999306802b860eee5608c93c2178c9e0.jpg

Internet says ignore.

Put 700 miles on the wee golf over the last few days and it is a pretty nice thing. NJGleeds did say he thought it would suit me and he was right.

The interior is a bit manky ... Well very manky. Door cards are a bit worn and seats need a fully beko session.

Thing is I can get a new/used interior for about £80. It's whether I just swap them out or try to revive what I have got.

Other fleet uodates

Timing belt has arrived for Rover - hopefully can get that back runninfy
Mx5 has got rollbar, new hood, balljoints, bushes and dust covers being delivered/fitted
Peugeot - headlights ordered from eBay - bargains, handbrake light doesn't work and horn is needed for MOT. Then will go to trusted shiter for a bit.

Just a tiny Amuse-bouche of an update.

Fingers crossed tomorrow I will be doing more shitey things with a barge from a farm.

9230c9b814f04747dd96333a0121094c.jpg

Golf has got the MIL back on. Looks like I will have to change the fuel temp sensor on it.

But first to the important bits

That's better.

Mx5 news

Hood for mx5 has been booked to be fitted next Friday. For £380 including fitting I think it is worth while.

Roll bar is on order after mx5parts had them cheaper than trlane direct. Should have that in a week or so.

Ball joints, dust covers, bushes and other odds and sods have been ordered to deal with MOT advisories.

205

Pair of NOS brand new headlights are winging themselves to me.

Horn from Mondeo to collect and fit

Also I have worked out I have screwed up the headlight relay which I will fix when sorting out the headlights.

Then need to fix handbrake / brake light switch for MOT.

Nice work on the replacement switch for the Golf, it's little things like that make all the difference IME.

RE MX5 hoods, I've replaced a few but have never been posh enough to pay for an brand spanker to be fitted, exciting times! Mk2's get broken for peanuts (Coz chassis rails/arches/sills) so it was usually easy to bag gud'un on a frame for less than £100. They're a straight swap and come with the much improved glass rear window, sometimes even mohair too!
