2000 Mercedes Benz E320 CDI Avant Garde - £600

Station

Recommended Posts

My last thread was shite, so I'll have another go.

I'm on the Wirral, can collect etc from Chester Station.

MOT'd for another year/drive you home tax.

Mileage is about 150,000 I think.

From the factory, the car came with:

3.2 straight six diesel, 220bhp, 232 lb/ft, 0-60 7.8 seconds.

Full electric front seats with three preset memories (base, rear and headrest are all alterable Up/Down & Forwards/Back)

Electric rake/reach steering wheel

COMAND entertainment system with BOSE speakers and six CD player in compartment in boot

Has AUX-IN socket in the glovebox - just plug in IPod and it switches to auxillery.

Heater/blower in the rear and in the centre cubby box to keep them pasties warm

Electric mirrors

Auto wipers

All electric windows with full auto up and down

Dimming rear view

HID headlights

Headlamp washers

Active 'learning' 5 speed auto gearbox (?)

ESP and Brake assist

Cruise Control and Variable Speed Limiter

Left/Right heater controls

Load cover

Rear seventh boot seat with cup holders on each side

Centre of rear seats pop out into a weird raised platform for kids to sit on

Pros:

It drives lovely

It's pretty good on fuel (45mpg motorway, about 30 around town)

It's rapid when you hoof it

The interior is tidy and clean

It has the swish COMAND (which stands for 'COol Music, Aint No Denyin'), with radio, CD, Phone and SAT NAV. Also (get this) a TV. I don't know how to get the TV working so assume it's analogue. Digital tuners are available that retro fit to these.

There's a fold down TV mount in the back wired up.

There's a shit load of receipts from MB totalling 20 grand (considering a few of them go up to 2 grand alone) up to 2011.

Cons:

It has rust on the edges of three of four arches/wings. There's a few scabs on the body, underneath is solid though.

A few dents and scrapes on wing and boot.

ABS/BAS/ESP light is on intermittently - (see below)

I factory restored the COMAND unit for some reason and now it is in German - you can change the language back with the CD in, but I cracked the inside of the CD. You can get new CD here with 2014 sat nav update.

Bonnet release is a bit stiff - I have new cable and latch for it.

I tracked the ABS/BAS/ESP light to a broken reluctor ring on the rear driveshaft - the corner of which was poking out slightly misaligning the notched ring. All ABS sensors checked and brake switch and they're fine. It looks like a simple slide on fix so I'll order a new one from MB if they're cheap.

New copper fuel injector seals as it had leaked hardened goop onto the rocker cover. Two were left as they were fine and I didn't want to mess them up just for the sake of doing them. They had been done before (receipt says so) which is probably why everything came out OK. Seals from Honda which are meant to be better, and bolts from Mercedes.

Thermostat has been changed, it has a switchable 'fuel fired coolant heater' so the car warms up in minutes.

Has been washed/polished/hoovered but have done 650 miles in it in a week on wet greasy roads.

I could collect ideally Tuesday or Wednesday at a push if that's good for you? Otherwise I'm in to the middle of next month with a strange shift pattern and family commitments... Email smd13(replace this bit with an @)gmx.com or message me for my mobile number.
