Mr_Bo11ox
Hey, I am getting a little bonus at work this month so I have treated myself to a car which is not a brain-damage rebuild project. Just booked a day off work next week to go down to TAUNTON to collect it. It might ring a bell with a couple of you: OMG PONIES! I often dream about finding a Mk1 Pony, sadly I dont think I ever will, so this will have to do.

Guest
Was wondering if someone on here had snaffled it!Well done Mr B! Bonus well spent.
Ratdat
Top notch Mr.B! I love the way they attempted to make it look like the bumpers were full wrap around jobbies by painting bits black. Quality! Does that say 1200SL on the wing? My pickup is a 1.2 and it's dog slow but then the engine isn't particularly healthy either. I take it they are still a 4spd? retrogeezer
So whats the story with that -B?? Thought it sold once on ebay then appeared again and the auction ended early or something?Top notch purchase for sure and looks super tidy..
retrogeezer
p.s If you are going that way from Crewe Monday or Tuesday I might be about if you fancy some company? But I'd guess you were going from P-boro?
Mr_Bo11ox
I think the black paint is a DIY effort, i'm gonna try to shift it with some celly thinners or something. I'm sure it will be dismal to drive, JonCedrics one was thoroughly grim to drive and it was in perfect condition, and a 1400! This must be the pits, cant wait to try it. I think ultimately it might end up being a-framed to france and 'barned'.
dollywobbler
Wow. You truly are the King of Shite! A superb new throne to travel about in.If you're bringing it back to Peterborough, I might have to pester you for a closer look...
Guest
That's amazing Mr Rolex, I can't wait to see you whip off those trims, fingers crossed there'll be some absolutely mint steels and centre caps underneath.I reckon you're right about the black bits being home done - from pics it seems you could get ones where these sections were painted, but they were painted on the flat crease, in this they've only been painted up to it. wuvvum
So whats the story with that -B?? Thought it sold once on ebay then appeared again and the auction ended early or something? The first time was kinda sorta my fault... I'd arranged to go and get it, bought my train ticket and everything, then got up in the morning to find the Saab had been broken into in the night - all they'd nicked was a stereo which I'd left in the footwell (didn't work) and my hex key set, but by the time I'd sorted it out and made the car secure again I'd missed my fugging train. A full price ticket to Taunton was something stupid like £152 so I said bollocks to that & emailed the bloke to ask if we could rearrange for another day. Didn't hear back from him for ages, and by the time I did I had other stuff on and didn't have time to take a day out for a trip to Somerset. I assume he relisted it on the Bay and Mr. B convinced him to end the listing early...?
AnthonyG
Simply brilliant Mr B. IIRC the designers studied the Mk1 Escort and Morris Marina when dreaming up the Pony. George Turnbull, who helped set up Hyundai's car operations, resigned/retired from BL, as part of his settlement he asked for a Marina coupe and saloon to take to Korea with him .
