scaryoldcortina
Before I throw it on gumtree, does anyone want this ancient lathe?Unknown age or type, completely devoid of safety guards etc and also in bits. Nothing is siezed, it all moves as it should, the bed is about 2 foot capacity and overall around 3 foot long. The motor does run, and is single phase. I gave £50 several years ago and I'm sick of tripping over it.Collect only from near Durham because it is very heavy.PS, you can also have this equally old and heavy press. EDIT - press now claimed. and unclaimed again. Skizzer, Six-cylinder and spike60
Tamworthbay
I don't need the lathe but if the press is unwanted by its new owner, give me a shout. Glwts
scaryoldcortina
If you are near enough to come get it, then PM me about the press. It cost me nothing and is in the way so if you have a use for it you are welcome.

BavarianRetro
That's a very small turret or capstan lathe by the looks of it. I'd see if you can find out what it is on www.lathes.co.uk. Ward and Raglan both made capstans. Some of these old things are quite valuable, though that looks like it needs a lot of work to get it working. OwdChina
That lathe looks like a 1940s Myford, slightly modified for production use. These were common on submarines of the time because of their versatility. Looks like your missing the original casings and screw ratio gears, for saddle feed speed and screw cutting purposes etc. and the compound slide and tool post. I have one in England, a very useful little lathe. tooSavvy and eddyramrod

stephen01
Back in my tap making days, used to make the taps for Thomas crapper, I shit you not, i used a hand press like this one to crimp the hot and cold ceramics into place. Wish I had space for this, not that I'll ever use it but it would be a nice garage piece.
loserone
If no one else volunteers I'll give it a home. No where to put it where it could be used yet, but I'm working on that, slowly..

Lacquer Peel
I'd like a free press, but it's all owned by billionaire media barons whose main interests are manipulating the system to suit billionaire media barons. Oh... wrong thread. loserone, scaryoldcortina and auldford
