Another Volvo Sold!

Now sold.

Right then, this has to go to make way for an incoming Jaguar.  I've had my fun out of it and will miss it a lot but it's time to try something else.

1996 Volvo 940 SE 2.3 LPT manual

MOT until July 2016

141,000 miles or thereabouts.

It had the cambelt done in August 2014 (less than 7,000 miles ago) and I serviced it last in October, since when it's hardly been anywhere.

It drives very well and I'd happily take it anywhere.

Faults:

Scruffy paint - keyed down both sides, some scuffs and marks here and there, small shallow dent on the bonnet

Not much heating - heater matrix is probably blocked, a new one is supplied (but the heated seats work!)

Clutch pedal pivot was previously snapped and repaired where it attaches to master cylinder (plastic mount has been glued) - a replacement is supplied

Small leak from radiator - has used a bit of coolant since I first got it and it's never got any worse.

Slightly damp interior - windscreen was leaking, I think it's sealed now but it is taking a while to dry out the carpet in the front and the driver's seat.  It's not and has never been soaking wet but is still a little damp.  Passenger seat and rear compartment is dry.

Good points:

4 recent Toyo Proxes tyres

Mechanically very good

No rust at all and no major bodywork damage.

All the electrics work including the heated seats (driver's one has a slightly temperamental switch but it always works)

Sunroof does not leak and never has.

No advisories on the last MOT

Towbar with working electrics

I'd like £550 for it please.  It's in North Devon and if you want it I'll try and help to deliver it.  I don't think it'll be raffled as there's too many of them right now.

Before you go pulling the dash apart, i've had success in the past after using some radflush type product, disconnecting the in and out pipes from the engine side of the bulkhead and shoving water from a pressure washer on lowest pressure up through the matrix both ways, works with rads too but obviously you don't go silly with the pressure, good mains pressure from a hose will sometimes do it.

Nice looking 9er Volvo that, GLWTS.

Thanks, a flush may do it as the coolant was quite mucky when I got it (it was drained and refilled with fresh pink Comma stuff about a year ago but I don't think the garage I used flushed it through with a hose).

Incidentally Egg, if this helps...

I can even deliver it to Hastings or near abouts for you when I get the Jag!

Newish full set of known decent make tyres tells you straight away the owner at the time they were fitted actually gave a fuck, so as good a bet as any in this life that the bits out of sight might have seen some reasonable quality care too, cars so shod tend to be worth raising the bonnet and investigating further.

That philosophy has stood me in good stead over the years (though we can all drop a bollock), conversely a manky set of kerbed mix and match unheard of shit with scuffed knackered wheels and scabby looking discs behind 'em has me quickly jumping back in me car and effing off.

I've been out and hoovered out the interior and checked it over, the coolant does look a bit mucky again so I reckon a proper flush through would do it a lot of good, unfortunately where I live now this is not an option as I have no access to a hosepipe.

I put the tyres on it, all are less than a year old.

Sierraman - it's not too bad on fuel considering, I've never worked out the MPG but on a longer run it's not too outrageous, I think these are supposed to do somewhere in the region of 25-28MPG if driven with a light foot.

This is still here, now the Honda's found a new home I would like this one moved on fairly soon so if anyone's tempted let me know.  I've had some interest from the Gumtree ad but as always I find selling on here less stressful so I'm happy to listen to sensible offers.  I can't take a swap as it needs to go to clear some space and cash but I may be able to help take it closer to any prospective buyer.

This was rejected by a quite demanding chap who came to look at it with his son today, I got the impression he was expecting something newer but I don't know.

Therefore it's still here and really needs to go, I'm open to sensible offers but no swaps as the replacement's already been arranged.

If anyone is interested, I will be heading down the south east coast next weekend to pick up the Jag so this can be delivered en route.
