dave21478
Like peeling a Snoopy sticky plaster off a grazed knee, this is going to sting a bit so best just get it over with quickly...... FFS man, you have been greeting on about this fucking vectra for nigh on two months. It needs a fucking sump, which you apparently have. Despite being pretty much unemployed, you havent had the time to spend an hour fitting it? This isnt bad luck or low mojo, this is a sympton of really bad decision making. You have made some really, really bad choices recently and this thread looks like its going the same way.... You chose to drive too fast for the conditions and stacked it....ok, shit happens. You were offered a known, running BX and chose to turn that down for reasons I dont understand. You chose not to fix the vectra despite pretty much overwhelming advice that it was for the best. You chose to buy a hyundai, spur of the moment as a replacement. You chose to crash that up a kerb and wreck it avoiding another car. I dont know the circumstances so wont say more, but could make some speculation.....You chose to buy a cheap, bottom of the market saxo on the spur of the moment. When that inevitably shat itself you chose to get rid and made exactly the same mistakes over again with the escort.Except its worse with the escort because its not even your fucking car, you chose to rely on somebody elses spur of the moment purchase of a bottom of the market shitheap as your main transport. And oh what a fuycking massive surprise, the cheap old Escort van has broken down. And now you have bought some picasso which has shat itself? While luck does lay a part in car buying, you are in a spiral of just buying shit without thinking of the consequences. The money you have pissed away on cars, insurance, tax throughout this debacle would have paid full rates for a garage to recover and repair the vectra. And now here we are, still broken down and two pages of people saying FIX THE FUCKING VECTRA and you are still "yeah, well, something to think about......" I dunno man, maybe its the cider talking, but....well, fuck knows what I am trying to say. Autoshite is probably the closest knit online community I have encountered especially considering the range of ages, tastes and distance between members and its not like we dont want to help you, but its getting a bit fucking boring saying the same thing over and over and watching the results of you not listening and digging yourself deeper into the shit. andrew e, drum, trigger and 13 others

bub2006
Right just to clarify I have a disability. It is very hard for me to work on cars outside in this weather. I needed transport urgently hence Suzuki and saxo. Yes you can speculate as much as you wat and to be honest I dot blame you at all. I was onnly doing 45 when I crashed Vectra if that. Too fast? Maybe. As for baleno I did what anyone would have done and swerved to avoid someone. Yes this year has been shit. Ive lost my wife, house, job and disability has got worse. The Picasso is fine, has a couple of issues but to be expected and the van has high mileage so a clutch is par for the course. I turned down the bx as I couldn't insure it. I just want to shut the door on this god forsaken year and start a free. I have caused myself severe pain fitting radiator and weather has got worse which is why I haven't done the sump. I just want to wither get rid and finish it or just do something. Battling anxiety, depression and physical disability doesn't help. Sorry for upsetting anyone. I really am. I just want out of the entire shitty situation I've got in,sort my housing situation out, find a suitable job,pay my debts and start afresh. Sorry to everyone again
Lacquer Peel
It's been pissing it down for 2 months, it's cold and dark and miserable. Fuck crawling around under cars outside. andrew e and alf892

dave21478
Believe me, I hate being cold with a venomous passion and i am the first to pussy out as soon as it turns damp but if my only car was broken down and needed a sump fitted at the roadside in the rain I would get it over with. bub2006
I know what you are saying Dave. Very hard to lie on my back on the street though mate sorry for upset or ill feelings. Cavcraft
I don't think it helps reading you've been doing rubbish removals and saying you help your mate out fixing cars etc, I seem to recall you've done work on your mate's van and yet you can't do the Vectra? Considering he's found the van, paid for it and sorted your insurance out for you I'd have thought that would be in the high priority bracket like the Vectra. I also don't mean that personally, it's just how it looks sometimes. dave21478, trigger and The Moog
bub2006
Not done any work on van and ive helped him in the past. Some days are worse than others. Not done any removals yet either. Ive put up on facebook trying to get work but not been able to yet. Trying to keep my head afloat that's all. If the rain would do one id attempt the sump
sierraman
Bub, fix the bugger up and get it running. If you want investment advice don't come here, if you want to run a car on a tight budget you are in the right place. Hopefully 2016 will bring good news for you, bugger women and houses, adopt the Autoshite way of living!

sierraman
Get some cable ties on that rad and bodge the sump, swap it in the summer. Don't let it beat you!!! You got to reach these little victories like getting the sump sealed not look at it like one big task! stripped fred
Pillock
I don't think anyone is upset with you bub, it's good honest advice - a running car is worth 5x a non-runner even if it's a simple fault. If you can bodge it together well enough it'll make it from one side of the shed of dreams to the other, you'll be looking at more than bridge money. bub2006
Thanks. I'll take this advice. I'll fix it and sell it on now. I'll lose too much. Just pray for some nicer weather
Mr_Bo11ox
I don't think you've really upset anyone on here Bub so don't worry about that. Also of course no-one on here really knows about the circumstances of your life, disability, relationships etc so bear in mind that owt anyone says is from a point of view fairly ignorant of that. All we read is about some lad who keeps flippin crashing and buying/busting a succession of old heaps, never seemingly getting anywhere with any of them but on here every day asking what to do next. Also I think anyone who posted up such a catalogue of mishaps as yours on the flippin internet is leaving themselves wide open to some level of 'pull yourself together FFS' posts. TL;DR: Don't worry about it!! Pillock, alf892, Lacquer Peel and 4 others
bub2006
I see things in a new light to be honest Mr b. Its a new year so anew start. I can see things from other peoples perspective now and yes I perhaps have come across as a bit twattish in my ways. Its just I thought the easiest option would be hide and pray things went well for the easiest option and each time its backfired. bub2006
what day are we fitting said sump and when I say we I do mean ME lolProblem is I love the car and I would be sorely tempted to keep the old girl when its up and running. I also noticed earlier you was admiring it! We will get it going soon.
bub2006
The Picasso is so much easier to get in and out of,comfortable, relatively economical and plenty of space. Mot till December 16 too. I'm sure the Vectra will go through an mot too so may be worthwhile chucking on a couple of part worns, fitting sump and selling with a years ticket but cosmetically challenged. That is the sensible option. stripped fred

Jim Bell
Have you had a shot of one dude? I'm taller and fatter than you (though reasonably able bodied bar a bad back and knee) and I think there's loads of room in them. There's certainly more cabin space and headroom than in a Rover 75, pug 406/405. Might not be for you but I was very surprised at the roominess. purplebargeken
Mate, you have a decent car in the Pickarseso. I quite like them as well. Yes, I am a bit odd. Try selling the Vectra on Gumtree as spares or repairs. It has to be worth a try. That way you have one less car to worry about, insure, tax and MOT, etc. Concentrate on the one's that are viable. Get yourself some breathing space and really think about a way forward. Post shit on here, debate it. The usual. You know we will continue to support you. Things will turn around! bub2006
Financially its viable ro repair and sell Vectra, reason for selling as is Is I wanted a clean break. The Picasso is alot better car overall, less work needed, years mot, comfort etc. Just I seem to have upset folk which wasn't my intention.
