For Sale Focus BiFuel Lpg

The Moog

Recommended Posts

As mentioned elsewhere the focus had a bump two weeks ago.

I have no use for it as been replaced with AS Xantia.

It's 1.8 lpgd focus.

It's a good system in that you pretty much run it all the time on lpg

Recently had
£500 spent on new Lpg pump
£120 on speed sensor
£60 on correct battery
The shadow changed the belts and water pump and serviced the car in August.

Mot 3rd Oct 2016
Will have drive home tax.
Ford handbook and V5 present

Got PAS, EW, ABS

Cargo net

Spacesaver tyre

Everything works.
Comes with IACV and spare set of rear pads

Will need a new bumper or old one repairing
Tailgate is dented but opens fine
Smart charge isn't working so unplugged which shows alt light

It is marked on v5 as accident damaged.

So in short a fully working Lpg car with long mot.

AS price £165

Located in Accrington

Simply put -yes.

Ford have a system that varies the level of charge it runs at to optimise battery charging. Also requires a fancy silver battery.

Which is all well and good until it doesn't work. Jump starting it can kill the system (which I think has happened).

Unplugging it reverts to 13.6v charging which hasn't caused any issues.

Does that mean it's not running or charging without the smart charge working?

Nope runs perfectly.

Smart Charge seems to be the electric handbrake of the alternator system. Didnt need to be invented, over complicates things and then is additional cost to fix.

I would have no issues driving it anywhere. It has been sitting for the last two weeks and started on the button just now.

LPG tank is in wheel well - 42l

It was CAT C when I got it and my insurance never asked when I insured it. Quote was from Confused and they don't ask either.  Even going through them now they have only said that it had previous damage.

  • 2 weeks later...

Don't worry about the alternator problem, how many old bangers use the Ford Silver Calcium Battery. Parts for these are silly cheap. Some moron has just knocked off the wing mirror off ours. A brand new one - electric no less in primer- £21 brand new on EBay in primer. Try that with a Golf. I kid you not these are the new Morris Minor. Piece of piss to fix, parts are for nothing, runs on pennies, genuinely good to drive... Need I go on?

Sir (or Madam)  I may be interested as my superb* daily has now got a full house MOT fail sheet.  A few questions, Does the non fitted bumper look 75% OK and suitable to be bodged back on with non original fixings? Does the bumper fit inside for transport purposes? Does it look awful?  Is it Cat C or will it change to Cat D ?  Is the LPG a retrofit or was it original ? I need to get hold of my insurance on Monday and find out how many of my testicles they require to transfer the insurance to Focus/cat C/LPG.

The car is cat C (was previously) although just days previous accident damage on v5.

It is factory fit (tickford no less). You just drive it all the time on LPG.

Bumper is in the back of car at the moment. It should be fine to drive away although back right tyre is down and will need pumping up.

Bumper can be refitted with a week bit of bodging and probably either a proper fixing kit or cable ties. Rear tail gate is dented and rear side quarter is dented but aside from that it looks OK.

I am literally sitting in Manchester Airport flying to Bali for 10 days. Bucketeer is staying at mine so he can do necessaries if that is OK.

As mentioned above, The Moog is now at the other side of the planet fondling sea slugs or some such and I'm looking after things at Casa del Moog for the next 10 days. There may well be internet in Bali but I can also deal with any enquiries and sell the car before his return.

I've taken a few more pictures today.

The bumper definitely fits in the boot.

I offered the bumper up, unattached, for some pictures. I reckon some cable ties/self tappers/araldite/selotape/velcro/gloy should see it reattached flush for a cheap fix.

The only crack on the bumper is on this side, with the minor rear arch scuff.

I really am shocked by how cheap this and other new cars are (a Focus is still a new car to me).

£165 buys you a LPG Focus with 10 months MOT. Absolute BARG surely.
