reallyloud
I think that might be an early Peugeot 304 or 204 in between the Allegro and Cortina. That definately is a sunbeam too.
Volksy
The coaches all appear to be Duple bodied (Duple Dominant?) and badges look probably Bedford (or is it Leyland?) I'd have to ask my sister, who after years of running coaches with my brother can recognise all theirs by the engine note as they go past. Not relation of the Bowkers are you? mouseflakes
Good going Pete - and a nice photo xr1984.Agree with DC about the Pug.I reckon the R11? is actually a 9 (rear lights best seen on the largest version of the image) and I think the same for the dark blue-ish car between the beige Cortina and Renault 12. Guest
I reckon youre right Flakes, for what its worth I reckon that both the silver car see behind the white Corolla liftback and the gold one next to the yellow Cortina are both Colts, there were a LOT of these used as rental cars in the early eighties, common foreground feature in postcards from this era of local landmarks.Coaches are all Bedfords as the operators here bought little else for forty years. Its difficult to tell, but could the blue car just visible to the left of the white Panda be a 105E Anglia? MrRegieRitmo
Agree on everything that's been said, thought maybe that bluey green saloon facing away might have been a K70 but I'll go with DC on late 304 saloon. That yellow estate facing away....a toughie but I'll go with Pete, 70s Sunny estate.Agree car backed onto white Corolla (I always confuse those Corollas with 70s Lancers!) is another Colt. There are two Renaults 9s in the picture as Mr Flakes says & no R11s.That brown estate bottom right.....very tough. The angles of it make me think Granada but it doesn't look big enough! The sweeping door lines ought to be a clue but I'm not getting anything... reallyloud
My thoughts regarding the brown estate/wagon/shooting break or what you want to call it is that its probabily Japanese. Either a virtually extinct and largely forgotten Mazda 808 Wagon. Or maybe a mk1 Lancer wagon. I think the car I would be driving away would be that white Corolla liftback. The UK sold quite a few of those with 1200cc engines, which is quite perverse when you compare the size of the thing next to the Avenger.
MrRegieRitmo
Either a virtually extinct and largely forgotten Mazda 808 Wagon. Aaah I saw a couple of those in Malta for the first time last August, I've already shown the one I managed to photograph. and one of those Lancer wagons which I didn't manage to snap. I think I'd have to drive off in that dashing white Alpine myself!
STUNO
Think the brown estate is Mazda with the heavily inset rear window.Aren't we a sad lot, someone shows a photo of some old cars and a few buses and we all go a bit silly..me included
