Pete-M
Anyone got a clue what would cause the following?Rear fog light won't switch offGlow plug relay, when it's plugged in is going utterly apeshit and dragging the voltage at the battery down from 14v to 8v... and making the alternator very nervous indeed.I've tried the usual "swap the fusebox for a known good one" trick and got the exact same symptoms, so I swapped them back.Tis bloody annoying, having to plug in the glow plug relay, start it, then sprint round to the front and unplug it again before driving. Also, I have to stall the fucking thing to switch it off, but it'll randomly switch off when it should.... Timewaster
My best guess would be an earthing probem. You'll probably find an earth point corroded / rotted away somewhere!
ashmicro
Agreed, bad earth. No quick way around this, I'm afraid. Are the back lights behaving themselves? - With the engine running get someone to press the brake and operate the indicators one at a time - if the brake lamp dims when the indicator lights up, your problem could be in the back lights. Classic old skool Ford problem.
Pete-M
Back lights are fine... I think this could well be a tad more serious than the back light issue that Mk3 and 4 Escrots suffered from...Everything apart from the bits I've described works fine.I suspect I'll just throw it at an auto-spark tomorrow morning.
