Well the MG ZIT has left good luck Phil it is a horrible day to be driving up the motorway. I hope Eddy is as pleased to see it as I was to see the back of it.

I think he was. The handover was successful, journey was uneventful and the MG behaved perfectly apart from a faint whiff of petrol at low speeds. Eddy is on his way home and I'm heading back South on the train now.

I should also add that Martin took a lot of care to prep the car for its new owner which was reassuring, all fluids topped up etc so thanks for that. Eddy's a proper gent who furnished me with enough bakery goods for about 3 days!

Always good to meet other Shiters, I hope the car does better for Eddy than some of his recent ones have!

Thats good news at least it made it that far, did the windscreen get any worse on the way up ? I hadn't noticed and fuel smell but they do have trouble with injector seals I think I have some left in a drawer somewhere so if that is the problem I will bung them in the post.

The windscreen didn't seem to get any worse that I noticed, to be honest I forgot the crack was there most of the time. The fuel smell was only at idle or slow traffic so I don't think it's anything major.

Check breather pipes for cracks . Remove front engine cover and check the t piece. Carefull though they go brittle with age and snap when you are " looking " at them. Ask me how. Not too bad £25.00 if they have gone . Or diy a T piece from plumbing stuff. My petrol smell was coming from fuel feeder pipe , into injectors. Couple of 5p o rings and sorted .

Well won Eddy! That increasing windscreen crack would worry me, but having said that I worry about everything.
Enjoy!

The shirt is a souvenir from my recent Noo England trip: from the Blue Collar Lobster Company, which it does say in small print on the back.  I liked it anyway, but upon seeing the name, couldn't resist it as a dig at the instructor at our local Writers' Group, who accused me of inverted snobbery once.  Who, moi?

And yes, I do have a story to tell, oh boy do I.  I'm on the laptop tonight so be patient, all will be revealed, with photos, tomorrow.  It isn't pretty.  How fat do I look?  Hairnet, you are officially banned from taking any more photos of me!

P65, if you do find those seals it sounds like I need them!

Oh and Vulgalour: get behind me for that Cadillac! :)

UW, no, that was Bolton, M61.

P65, not an issue yet!  But it did smell all the way home, and there's more.  It's too late and I'm too tired/excited* about my Saab to go through the details just now, so I'll open a thread tomorrow.
