Thanks Seth, my knowledge on 50/60`s cars is a bit limited.I new it wasn`t a 13/60 or Vitesse.I seem to remember seeing the odd K plated 13/60 Herald about.Oh just noticed in my album i have an earlish 1200 and a late 13/60 estate. Here you go.

OOOF! Simca 1501!I haven't seen one of those in the metal since the early 80's, and that was a mid-70s job (black plastic grille) as well. 1000+ spot points!Wish I had my camera today - took a drive through rural South Oxfordshire to avoid the A34 roadworks on my way up to Brum, and spotted many fine motors such as a mint Mk3 Escort 3-door wagon. Doh!

So much REAL QWALITY Shite....Why do I never see stuff like that?

Love the Sonata, Espace, Simca, MG Maestro etc. etc....But You've got me seriously doubting my own Shite-spotting ability now....

Wow, an incredibly late registered ( Jan '76) Lux! Top spot, much appreciated Mr AJ!

That reminds me, I seriously considered buying an '02 in 1999 which was on a V-plate...it was a 1975 car owned by someone in the Forces, reimported in '79...can't remember the reg number now but I wonder if it's still around?

Me too! Had a reasonable haul from Norwich this morning though, stolen from under your very nose Baz! South side of the city gave me a few good finds when I'd got some to spare before a survey. But still nothing like the above, apart from one which please me greatly.

Uh Oh! A40 8) Definitely going to be one in my future. Would makea good replacement for the Herald if we ever sell it.High top H van is interesting.Oh, talking of Heralds, I'm afraid your early 1200 pic is actually a 948! Handle on bonnet and no white bumpers

Ok, at risk of this thread turning into a Triumph Herald fest heres a short potted hsitory.

1959, car launched with 948 Standard 10 engine and lots of funky details and touches you only get on initital runs of cars (eg bonnet handle, two tone interiors, purple paint). Available as Saloon, Coupe or Convertible

1961, 1200 launched with 1147 cc motor (rounded up the numbers!)Estate added to range. 948 continued as "S" spec saloon.

'62, Courier Van added for two years.

In '63 the chassis was modifed to "Mk2" spec with the introduction of the Vitesse. "S" discontinued. 12/50 saloon added with extra engine oomph and sunroof.

'64 Coupe discontinued.

'67 13/60 released taking over all convertible and estates but both 13/60 and 1200 saloons available.

'70 1200 saloon production ends

'71 All other production ends.

Some pics:

Wow, that Regata is on another level isn't it? Rubbish enough cars as it is, but in that condition too? Awesome.I had the 'pleasure' of having a taxi ride in one some years ago, it was as crap as you'd imagine. One of the local taxi firms has always favoured antiquated Fiat saloons, they're now moving onto Mareas from the fleet of Tempras which replaced the Regatas.

A collection of Skodas. There were 6 in total. These are situated on the A259 coast road not far opposite Shoreham power station.

Posted Image

I know where these are! That A259 coast road along the Worthing to Brighton stretch throws up all sorts of shite surprises! Although not quite as much as it used to. I'm pretty sure there used to be an even older Skoda 100 coupe living at that address too. It was a P reg in orange. I know this because it used to park in my road in Bognor visiting a house across the road sometimes. It would stay the night as I think the owner was seeing a girl that lived over the road. Swear I saw it parked outside that Shoreham Skoda infested dwelling a few years back. I got a fuzzy night time shot of it on my 35mm camera one time it visited our road. Wasn't brave enough to take a daytime shot.

Back on topic - I'm loving that Mk2 Capri, but (with my anorak on) I can't correlate it being an XL and an S-plate - sure they'd changed to GL by then! Might just be a replacement lid. Where have all the Mk2 Capris gone? I've decided they're my favourite shape now.

Bet it never used to be!

BMW 2002

Does funky round rear lights or funky square rear lights indicate a different spec?

Future shite surely.I`ve only seen a handful of these(i'm not surprised at £17000 new).It was just about to leave the petrol station so had to move fast.Driver collared me as i snapped!

I think this car was a brave idea by Honda but in hindsight the Insight needed more foresight!:roll::lol:

PS: speaking of Honda, I think the BMW above has got pretensions to become a fast one, or is trying to pull one! :D

Funky round lights (the ones to have) are pre August '73 facelift-square lights (and black plastic grilles) previewed the look of the upcoming E21 3 series which replaced the '02 range (or most of it) in 1975. There are however many round lights on post August '73 registrations, as they were bloomin' expensive- I once had a Sept. '74 N reg round light, and have also had an Aug '73 square light. Sorry to exhibit my full trainspotterishness-do I need help?
