Far Sail, Saab 9000 2l turbo, much cheapness

Not mine but a chap I work with, I think these are lovely looking machines and they're bloody comfy old barges.

97 2l turbo Saab 9000, What I do know of this car is it's mot'ed till 31st May next year, low mileage, 96k iirc,  full leather and wood* interior, super aero alloys (courtesy of Skattrd) with good tyres on them. It's had a new water pump recently and 2 sections of the exhaust were replaced last week.

I know it has a fault, being that the turbo actuator is sticking so it's not running full boost, a local saab place has said they can fix this for circa £60, why he hasn't had it done I don't know, probably being done this week. Not sure if there's anything else wrong with it but he uses it everyday for work so I guess there's nothing serious.

That's about as much as I know, if you want to chat to the guy his name is Rory and his number is 07765949168, he's asking £450 but he'd rather swap for a small pez or mid size doozil motor so that he's not without a car, basically he's doing some miles now and needs better economy even though this returns 30+ mpg.

He's doing a much more detailed ad for bumtree, so when that's done I'll post a link here if anyone's interested.

My LPT 9K had a fault to do with wastegate.....

It was auto so, just running easy on the right foot, it would wind up smoothly and then suddenly the engine would stutt - stutt - stutt, as a soft misfire.

Western Saab had a look.... Service lad says Ignitor? (£250)... but Old Fellah in the service bay says "WD-40 + Hammer".

Sorted  :-P

One last bump

I can't believe this hasn't gone, (insert witty comment about this place)

it really is a nice motor with a couple of niggly bits that could be sorted easily. I'd have it myself but the usual, too many cars lack of money/space etc etc.

I did think about trying to roffle it but as it's not mine the logistics of keeping track of messages, money and me not being online all the time would be difficult.

I had a lesser 9000. Lovely solid cars that handle well.

I imagine that to be an ace thing. Bloody cheap.

It really is a nice car and I think the turbo issue could be sorted by just spraying penetrating fluid on it every day for a week or so to free it up.
