That translation is hilarious. Need more bus a long time

The Google translate website makes slightly more sense of it but gives the title as "Looking for a retired Barry" and also includes this gem

There was a small episode when the bus entered the venue

Yes. Yes there was.

That's amazing! As we are famous now (as a forum) in the international bus scene, can we haz a wikipedia page now?

I'm gonna cash in on this and tag the 2 videos with the reg plate so Google picks it up...

Check the demographics on your videos. You'll have hundred of wee Chinas giving it "Aaaawww Hoover Tulbomastah!!!!"

I was thinking that earlier actually, Supernaught mentioned that the bus looked odd with chinese livery, but the chinese bus beards would be thinking the same as us "awwww, wook how siwwy bus look on engrish plate"

May I point out though,

And someone commented 3 times on one of the JCB videos wetting himself about Chris's Herald 948!

We could be about to go global now lads (and lasses)! Next shitefest we may have tourists coming to hope to see the famous bus, or sierra base...

Update 30/08/2017

As usual it has been a while and as usual I've had to go through the old posts to see what the last update was. New headlight still aren't installed. Hub caps, still not installed.

Since then it has been MoT'd again, two major air leaks fixed, front brakes re-lined and front suspension components replaced. Engine mis-firing AGAIN on the way to get the brakes sorted. Bastard

Now that that's up to date, time for some more recent stuff.

Big yellow went to the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum's open weekend (Sunday only) a couple of weeks ago along with "Millie" one of the big green Olympians at Swift. Misifring like a total bastard, it still managed to get there and back much quicker than Millie being that mines is geared to run off the clock whereas Millie will do 43mph. Albeit 43mph up the side of a house.

That Citybus logo took me a bastard arse age to get right

Along with another similar yellow Olympian from JJ Coaches, the three made quite an impression being heavily photographed all day and on the way out...

I promise I did not* drive home along the M8 with the screen set to that.

Anyways, as noted, the engine was misfiring and it was getting worse. I had been "booked" to do a work golf outing which has since had to be rearranged 'cos I didn't want to do any more damage to the engine. I got George Gray (Midland Transport Services Ltd) out to re-live his youth and perv over a Cummins L10 engine again and take the top end of the engine apart to see what the score was...

Not sure if I have described the PT Injection system on the Cummins L10 engines. Basically the fuel pump feeds a common medium pressure rail to all the injectors and the high pressure for injection happens inside the individual injectors via a 3rd rocker arm and cam on the camshaft. A bit like a big syringe.
Injector #3 - Stuck solid
Injectors #4 and #5 - Plunger sitting low. Possible broken return spring. Not giving a full injection stroke. Will be the cause of the splutteryness over the last 9 months or so.

Additional - 5 of the 18 rocker arms are damaged.

Only thing is, the place I took them couldn't do anything to them. So they sold me 6 brand new in box genuine Cummins Recon units for an excellent price...

That's it for today. I'll do another update when George comes back down to reassemble the engine.

The engine was running fine when I got it from Cummins last year when they did number 1 cylinder. The dodgy injectors have gone dodgy since then possibly due to being used to running in a relatively cool engine. Remember I changed the thermostat valve for the radiator fan which mean it runs a tiny bit warmer now.

As for the rocker damage, it is unlikely all of that has happened in the time so it's a bit of a curious one. But now I've got 6 new injectors and the man doing the fitting has a large stock of rocker arms so all is well. I'm on course to having all 6 done and rockers at about half the price Cummins charged to do one.

Just a quick one.

The top end of the engine has been mostly rebuild by my tame Mobile PSV Engineer. 6 new injectors, 2 refurbished rocker shafts with 5 new / rebuilt rockers and it seems a bent pushrod. Just the new pushrod to go in and the clearances to do and it'll be reet. I'm off work Tues/Wed/Thur next week so hopefully I'll get to have a good razz about in it...
