Pegasus79
Righto, come and grab a cheap 4x4 before winter arrives!178K with FSHWinter Pack OptionAutomatic with Hi Lo & overdriveLeather 7 Seater4 Months MOTNever WeldedHere is my 3.0 V6 LWB Shogun for sale to a fellow member.. Its a good strong car and I bought her locally in June, to tow my caravan (No Stick Please) on a couple of summer hols with my lad. Purchased from an old boy engineer, he used the shogun for around 7 years and 100K, travelling to France to visit the grandkids 6 times a year and for work duties. Its a good solid 4x4 which has been on road most of its life looking around it, no greenlaning or abuse for a change. Bodywork is good with a few scratches and bar the n/s front corner (See below). I bought her based on the mechanical history - a nice thick file of receipts and work undertaken by the same garage in Todmorden. Cambelt, Water Pump and Belts, Radiator recore and wheel bearings, bushes and general maintenance all listed and done. All important oil & filter changes every 3k are documented and also transmission services etc. When purchased I replaced the exhaust from the Cat Back - new Indicator Relay and replaced the rear number plate lamps with LED's as the originals had rotten reflectors. Gave the car a good once over and greased up some of the suspension, cleaned inside and out and actually suprised myself how unabused and original she was - etched windows all match and even the torch is still in the boot! Have driven around 1.5K miles, 800 of those towing a twin axle and she sat nice and steady on the motorway, didnt use a drop of oil or water and temp gauge bang in the middle no matter what the A30 threw at us. I fitted a new ALKO Towball and replaced the single 7 Pin socket - all working okay.Good Points:Thatcham Cat Alarm and Immobiliser and 2 KeysOriginal Books and FSH - Mitsi and independantStrong engine and smooth Autobox - uses no oil or water4x4 Hi/hi Lo/lo all working and has rear diff lock (disconnected)Power and Hold all working along with Cruise Control and Overdrive7 Seats, Leather with working Heated and suspension front seats - all fold away/ recline etcWorking Electronic DampersAir Con works well - rear heaters and re circulation system does what it shouldElectric Windows and Moon RoofTailgate Spare with coverTyres all plenty of meat with no leaks & locking nuts on alloysCourtesy lamps and driving lights all goodSide StepsThings to Note:Exhaust has slight blow at crush joint on Cat - fiddly but cheap to changePass Window is a little slow and the Moon Roof has started to stick so needs a grease and fettleFront n/s wing and bumper pushed in a little due to snow bank grabbing it last winter - also pulling to n/s at times so think a ball joint or track rod may have taken a thump - still drives nicely and didnt worry me at all50p sized hole on outer chassis rail on ns rear - quoted £30 as mates rates to plate and paintRear Diff can whine at motorway speeds - hasnt got any worse since I bought herDrivers front seat is tatty on the side and taped upRadio is cassette and Ariel doesnt go upRust on rear inner door arches/ tailgate inner lip - its not a rot box, wanted to be honest.Basically its a cheap 4x4 which is offered at not far off breaker money and will give a few years more good service with care - Caravan is in storage and I have 2 other cars, so want to move her on for winter. Its a strong reliable car - would happily jump in and drive one end of the country to the other, comfy seats armrests and cruise control makes life easy. Please don't ask silly questions about MPG as you can buy a Diesel if you want the gamble of injectors/ turbos and the like.£680 OnoCar is located 2mins off J29 of M6 and I will accomodate a fellow member to make an easy sale. Bone
What's the mpg? My old 2.8 diesel averaged 19mpg over 320k, so a lot worse than that. Note my cavalier attitude to the reliability of injectors and turbos, based on the failure of either to fail. Twiggy
D Spares & Tyres
Ouch. My 2.8 shogun does around 24 mpg Was only asking as he said not to ask ☺

Bren
Looks a nice old bus. Not sure about a caravan, I think a tanker would be more appropriate. Twiggy

Lacquer Peel
20MPG average according to Parkers, the diesels are shit on fuel too so there's not much point buying a diesel unless you've got a steady supply of vegetable oil.
RichardK
Depends on the diesel I think? The 2800TD in my L400 Delica gave 28mpg, 25mpg around town, and on runs it was doing 85 on the motorway and "as fast as possible" on roads like the A7. But, but, the bloody thing expired in a cloud of smoke with completely buggered pump seals, and that was a common issue back then. The petrol ones were rare but tempting.
