Lord Sterling
This isn't my car... BackgroundI was contacted by the son of the owner of this fine vehicle. His father, a 90 year old chap of whom I had previously spoken to before I left for France, had recently passed away and the son was looking to sell the vehicle on. As I had left a note on the car previously and spoke to the old fella a couple of times, my details were obviously retained and I was offered the car today. Unfortunately due to my constant never-failing cash-poorness, I really couldn't take this lovely vehicle on, but I did say I'd put some feelers out and thought maybe some Shiters might like to take this on. The son didn't really know what to ask for the car and to be honest, it is a difficult one, it's either try and get as much money as you can or sell low to someone who'll cherish, yes it's not the only choices but I'm looking at it realistically. Anyway, the chap is looking for about £600 which I reckon may be negotiable. I don't know much about the car itself, I don't know the mileage/service history or nowt. It was owned by the old chap for about 20 years. The car itselfThis a Mk2 1994 Rover 820i SE manual. The 820i SE was a model of the 800 range that lasted from about 1994 to 1995. It was meant to be a cheaper alternative to the Sterling, you got Sterling options (except leather seats) but I guess with the 820SLi which was basically the similar optioned-car, the 'i SE' was dropped. The condition of the car seems reasonable, some very slight bubbling on the rear arches that could be rubbed down and repainted. Left-hand side front wing has a small hole in the arch. Interior looked solid and clean when I saw it last. Lord Sterling
Its never going to shift at £600. Thats £200 on a very, very good day.Tell that to the owner chap. I'm just sticking it up here for interest. I reckon he could be moveable on price bht it's up to interested parties to negotiate. I sold my even worse looking/condition Rover 827 Coupe for £350. This 820i SE is in much better condition.

Cavcraft
Nobody's forcing anyone to buy it. These are lovely cars to drive and I hope he finds a home for it. oldcars, Lord Sterling and Partridge
Guest Lord Sward
I fully agree. But I retailed the best 820 in the world 2 years ago for just under a grand. And warranted it for 6 months. It took me 9 months to sell from retail premises. And I had various members of Richard Moss' owners club pestering the life out of for me it. None of whom actually bought it. Just saying from experience like.
