Just heard from the transport company and my latest purchases are on their way back to blighty.

The very grim Peugeot 204 diesel and what I am hoping is a nice original Monet Goyon S3G. They should land overnight but might not make it down here until Monday.

Fingers crossed they are as good as the descriptions !

That Monet Goyon looks great. I really want one - keep looking them on leboncoin, but keep putting the notion to the back of my mind with trifling worries about transporting one here and registering it. Still kicking myself that I stayed in Melle where there is a good Monet Goyon museum but left before I knew about it. One day, one day......

204 D, utter dervfabulous.

Can I be nosey and ask what sort of cost it is to have one delivered to the UK, I assume some part of France or Spain?  Thinking of an Acadiane myself and Spain seems to be prime picking ground.

Had a call from the delivery driver they will be here first thing in the morning. He is charging me £600 for pick up just north of Clermont-Ferrand to here in Somerset. He will do the south of France northern Italy for around £800. I am not sure he runs down to Spain more northern Italy. It isn't cheap but it is still cheaper than me going out there myself and picking them up.

£600 for Clermont to Somerset is bloody good.  I did the run down to Clermont myself about 7 years ago, it's a long old haul.

Well a day later than planned they have turned up. The Monet is great totally original showing 410 km on the clock and it could be correct as it is in such good condition. I will play with it on Monday and get it running as the petrol smells a bit stale. The Peugeot turns out to be better than expected. The outer sills are bolt on and there is a new pair with it. All the underside is good just to patches to the sills under the covers will be required. The engine is a "round the corner" type with the dynamo mounted pointing downwards. The ignition key is snapped in the ignition so it might take a while before I can get it going. Overall I am very pleased considering they were bought blind.

attachicon.gifthingy.jpg

Not 100% sure of that probably for the front and rear fog lights. I found a drivers hand book on ebay for the diesel and it isn't to do with the diesel start procedure which is quite involved. I need to get a battery for it on Monday and see what happens

A couple more pics of the bike that wouldn't upload earlier. The labels were put on by the previous owner so I had an idea of the fuel mixture and how to turn it on. It is a single cylinder 2 stroke 98cc. I do love the twin pipes though and the hand gearchange on the side of the tank. Dated between 1947 and '53

On the 204 it does have the round the corner fan belt and the diff is right at the front. A very strange set up but I have got a spare engine just in case. Although it only has 35000 km on it and 2 owners so might be ok.

Finally got around to playing with my new toys today.First up the Peugeot. The key had been snapped off in the ignition so that had to be dealt with first which ended up taking a couple of hours trying to drill the bloody thing out but got there in the end. Next up was to replace the fuel filter housing as it was full of shit and leaking from the primer pump. The throttle pedal next as it was siezed and holding the pump wide open. It started with a quick squirt of easy start and runs really well. I then had to free off the clutch slave cylinder which had actually siezed with the pedal down. By the end of the day it now drives !!. The bike wasn't that hard just a clean of the carb and some fresh fuel and it fired up with a bump. I will have to try and attach a video.

https://youtu.be/q8ADdYql-ss

There we go a crap video but gives an idea

The 204 has bolt on outer sill covers a bit like the Rover P6. The sills underneath are nice simple box section so should be easy to sort out.

The Monet is the villiers engine copy and actually goes fairly well. The gearbox takes some getting used to though, I am trying to get it dated properly so I can get it registered and have a proper go up the road.
