Shagged XJS - GOT THE MOVES LIKE JAGUAR. NOW with inept attempts to start after one year on its bum

That looks peachy, good man!

I had a pre HE XJ-S when I was in my late 20s, I'm sure the 3.6 was almost as fast in terms of numbers but the V12 was deliciously wafty which suited its character.  Mine had almost no rust at all, nor did it leak, that's how variable the build quality was - sometimes they'd churn out a good one.

Back in the mid '90s 285bhp was still a lot of power, nowadays you'd turn down a Fiesta if it had less than that.  But in the Jaguar it did make for some very effortless cruising and memorable drives; seeing the speedo pass 145mph very early one morning, hoofing it down a fast A road and noticeably catching up with a police car with its lights and siren on, choosing whatever gift I fancied with all the tiger tokens I seemed to have.

Peachy it ain't!   May possibly be two cars glued together down middle bit - left side peachy, right side FUBAR.  Drives tidy, though.  MOAR laterz.

I am well pissed off that it is already 0844 on Tuesday and there does not appear to be any collection thread currently live on the forum.  We need to have at least one every day.  I am going to try to lob off work early and collect the Jaaaaaaag this PM, so I will just go and pre book the AA van and alert the oil  refineries of southern England to increase their production.

An XJS is on my bucket list. A friend of mine in Perth had a ridiculously nice V12 with a fucking huge sub woofer on the back seat. He sold it recently for $20,000 so they're definitely much cheaper in good old blightly.

PS, I was born in '92 - all you guys IS WELL OLD.

When you was born I had an Iso Grifo, five Imperials, an Indian 101 in full WoD spec, two MKII Granadas, a '73 Newport, a '78 Caprice Classic, a '78 Blazer K5 Cheyenne, a Stockcar F1, a Renault 4, a Unimog 404, and the petrol cost 19 Belgian Francs per litre.

Do you remember Three Mile Island?

I was thinking along similar lines, but red, with a white leather interior. It would have to be a Gamma though, as you need* a car where the cambelt falls off when you apply full lock to raise your shite credentials to the next level.

white leather interior. Mint until the car breaks down the first time.

Cue Betjeman.

I was going to cut and paste "Early Electric" (Baker Street Buffet), but my phone is proving recalcitrant. I hope that this is not a warning that technology is not my friend today.....

I was encouraged by the repair tape on the wall at Temple Tube. I am currently at Northwood, en route to Chesham by Metropolitan Railway.

The very pleasant homeward journey took me through the classic ITC adventure television locations of rural Bucks  (Avengers, The Baron, all that).  The New Avengers, you will recall, featured an early SD1 (Steed) and an early XJ-S (Gambit).  Poor Purdey had to drive some POS MGB or a TR7.    My SD! is late, and my XJS later still, but hey.

Here is yer classic Bucks village pub.  The sort of place where Gambit might yet again try but fail to put the moves on Purdey.  No wonder he took to the coffee bean motion later in life!
