One for the Datsun lads

Here's a find.

Found this pic of a Datsun 240K - one of the hundreds of interesting cars my dad sold as a trader in the 70s and 80s. I remember this well, my dad was well impressed with it, I think he reckoned it was the best Japanese car he'd traded (and he was a big Jap fan). I put a thread on a while back with some of his more interesting ones.

Rubbish, who'd have one of them?!Looks a nice one, when was the pic taken? DVLA says it died in 1990, only 11 years old  Rubbing strip isn't original, wheels have been painted and that dark green doesn't strike me as an original shade, so maybe already some rectification work by the time of that picture?I loved my old one for the 9+ years I had it, hopefully it will be resurrected by its new owner one day, it's in good hands. The Laurel I have now is much the same under the skin, you can see where bits are grafted onto the inner wings and front panel to give it a squarer look than the Skyline. Drives very differently though, which I put down to solid axle vs IRS and carb vs injection. 240K was a sophisticated thing for its time, and even the mag's of the time were quite kind about it.Edit: I bet that vinyl roof didn't help it, they do horrible things in my experience.
