SWMBO has just bought this off the bay of e. She wasn't really much of a Saab fan but she's recently taken a shine to 'black' ones so after a bit of interweb crawling, this is the one she's picked. It cost us £780 which includes half tank of motion lotion and six months road tax. The seller is a police occifer from Whitley Bay which is where we have to pick the car up from next week. A 500 mile return road trip!

Love it! One of my top two reasonably priced practical cars from the last 10 years! Is it a Viggen?

Has Viggen bumpers and wheels, just found the wheels on the bay of E at £152 each! Will get some more pictures of it up when we collect it but in the mean time if you click the image in the original post it will take you to the listing for more pictures

2.3 is a good engine, change the oil regularly and the risk of camchain snap is minimised.

Ask the seller if he spends most of his "beat" in and around the Hairy Lemon*, given his vocation and location.

* Probably Whitley Bay's worst pub, which must be saying something

We are picking the car up from a Newcastle nick I think so that should be fun. Is there anything else I should know about the 900s? I know next to nothing about them so it's all greek to me!

Well, after a uneventful 12 hour 520 mile round trip, she's finally at our place. Had to wait at Wallsend nick for a while as the seller ( a copper!) was out on a shout! Anyway, she averaged 39.2 mpg on the trip home, so quite happy about that. Other good news was no bongs but plenty of flashy lights!Pics to follow....

don't think i ever got more than 35mpg out of my 2.0 one. Maybe i should change my driving style..

It's an auto and we stuck at 60 - 70 all the way home plus Wifey and I don't speed anymore. I also wear beige a lot more now, is that significant?Actually I don't particularly enjoy my driving these days, I have a back injury and need constant pain relief which does nothing for the old attention span, plus I now have the reaction times of a turnip!

Ah ok, with mine I found that its natural speed on the motorway was about 85-90, meaning just the speed when it felt 'right' if you see what I mean. (obviously tested this on the autobahn.. )

Black must be the best colour for a 900.Whats the mileage on it?

110k with full Saab history up to 80k and then serviced for the next 30k by a Saab independant garage.Did you notice that the 3rd brake light under the spoiler is missing? It was there when I washed the car, went in to get a fresh bucket of water and it was gone when I came back! Weird thing is that my son was out there doing the wheels so nobody else was near the car. :?
