Albert Ross
It doesn't explain the rear lights though...........That's a Holden HR by the looks, from 1966 on
Volksy
doors are semi right, again the rear lights arn't correct. rear 1/4 window is different though.. hmmmm1967 Holdon HR possibly locally built? WE CANNOT FAIL!!
Albert Ross
Door handles on the white car are lower than the Holden.Rear window is concave and semi wraparound the C pillars. There is a small but discernible kick up on the rear door window lower trim line, making it different metal to the PC Cresta models, but the door handles look like Bedford CF units to me...............the plot thickens. CortinaDave
Looks like a defeat then! I might see if the retro rides guys have better luck with it... its annoying me now!!!
scrappylad
Seen quite a few of the featured cars kicking about the locale. Know of quite a few more too, but basically I'm crap at remembering to take a camera on my travels. Plus it eats batteries so would need a bank loan to feed its habit. Note the attractive Cavalier above parked next to the Reliant at Speedfair... owned by no less than meeeeeeee !

CortinaDave
Thats why i usually just use my phone! crap phone pics are better than none at all... anyway small update time... This rather nice old austin is up for sale at a modern cars stealership near me. Seems the garage owner has the usual "its old and therefore worth a kings ransom" attitude. Currently up at £4995! Austin Princess hearse in at kwik fit for an MOT... now used to advertise a local pool bar! Decrepit beemer.. Finally, this brought a smile to my face. Shame it was dark so very poor pic... MrRegieRitmo
I spy a rare Rover 200 BRM in the background! Mmmm tasty Cherry coupe - sure it was on eBay last year, as I saved the pictures of it.
pompei
I've not seen one of those Cherries for years - top spot!Good to see the hearse getting a new ticket, and not being taken for its final run on the banger track
bigstraight6
I've not seen one of those Cherries for years - top spot!Good to see the hearse getting a new ticket, and not being taken for its final run on the banger trackThat Datsun is indeed a top spot, its a long way from where it was first registered, thats a Bristol area reg number if I'm not mistaken Good to know the hearse could be on the road for another 12 months, there was one being used by a Torbay Garage to advertise their services until the coffin dodgers of the area complained on the grounds of bad taste
CortinaDave
Another small but worthwhile update... Adrian_pt
What the hell is this? cresta? That's a circa 1964 Opel Rekord with changed rear lights, as in http://www.carphoto.ch/diverses/langent ... 26_020.jpg Hope that helps!
michiel
Lovely SM! Saw one today, pointed it out to my girlfriend (but if she keeps acting like this soon to be ex-*) and she said that's the ugliest car I've ever seen.I turned my head in disgust to see an Ami M35 on the other side of the road at the Citroën importer's...*(not true, I just want to look tough )

Richard
First up.. this shockingly bad Saab sits on the public road and has done for the last few years, down a side street in a village called Rathillet off the A92 near Dundee I know the owner of that car. I don't know which brother it belongs to but they both drove them for years. I don't think it looked much different when it was in daily use. Albert Ross
Engine block looks like Renault 1100/1400 as used in R5/Volvo 343 etc. Curve on the sump mounting face is what I'm going from.........
mk2_craig
What a spot... in edinburgh city centre Right near the Festival Theatre? I'm sure we've seen this car in a spotted thread before... don't think it was me who took the photo though!
CortinaDave
Indeed it was... you can see the theatre in the background on the right hand side. I've seen it out and about a few times, but this was my first opportunity to actually get a pic of the thing.Impressed we finally have an identity for the greek opel thing too! I'd given up hope on that... and I cant believe over 10,600 page views for this thread now! Theres a lot of people into crap cars out there... CortinaDave
And my latest shite.. a 1978 Cortina 2.3 Ghia with a 2.8 in.. Needs work but a rare beast now. First job is get rid of the godawful front springs that have been chopped so low the car practically scrapes along the ground making it a horrible drive. Changing the alloys for something more period is next... Window scuttles are rusty and the drivers sill is like a tea bag.. all part of the fun. My missus is using it for her work just now. Bloody quick, but really knows how to drink petrol.
Mr_Bo11ox
Nice work! That Datsun 610 is amazing.Cortina looks like it has potential.... the wheels/springs/badge situation suggest a lucky escape from a halfwit modder. Why do people fit those accessory shop badges? They look out of place no matter what car they go on. Some lad came on R-R a while ago with a mint BX 16v, the only touch he'd made was to fit about 8-off chrome '16V' badges from fuggin charlie browns, looked absolutley terrible. He took them off like after they were universally drubbed.
reallyloud
I think I know who owns the 610 SSS Datsun - can't be many in Scotland natch UK, he's got a quite a collection of motors - I think he's based near St Andrews and quite a interesting fellow. I find it surprising that lonely the Bedford truck hasn't been taken in for weighing in. I guess it must be well and truly rooted into the ground. mk2_craig
I'm amazed to see this Austin, some good friends and shite enthusiasts owned one in Harvest Gold until quite recently, I think it was TSS943L or something very similar to the one in your pic. CortinaDave
The datsun was on Kirkcaldy prom so most likely it was the same bloke...Bedford truck is one of a few deep rooted vans in the same place, there's a detached house and the bedford sits just outside with two late sixties ex BT vans in the drive. Cant get pics of them without walking blatantly into the property though!I agree on the mods on the cortina.. the suspension is so ludicrously low as to make the car un usable.. I dont understand why anyone would want their car to ride like that. Each to their own i suppose. Back springs are already changed, and I've got hold of a set of fronts via the cortina forums so that should improve thingsAnyone know where I can get a set of period numberplates made up for it? I think the post 2001 ones it has at the moment look a bit wrong.. raised plastic letter style would be good...

mk2_craig
Just dawned on me that mk3 Escort production was well underway by X-suffix... grille badging hints that this one is a fair bit older; DVLA sez: Date of Liability 01 09 2008 Date of First Registration 09 07 1982 Year of Manufacture 1976 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1300CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Licence Not Due Vehicle Colour ORANGE So import presumably.
