214 Rover Raffle Roffle

For reasons too deep to explain, I'm flogging my Rover. I don't really want to auction it (because there's been loads recently) but will if needed, though prefer to sell outright...

1993 Rover 214Si 3 door hatchback, it's the 16V one.

MOT July 2015, honestly unaware of anything that would prevent it from getting another MOT.

'Taxed to get you home'

It's only done 59,000 miles from new and only two former keepers. The latter worked at the Rover garage the car was sold from when new.

Brilliant 'mingebag' spec, i.e no power steering and no electric windows but has central locking

Bodywork wise I think you're going to struggle to find one better. There's a tiny handful of rusty marks, but nothing at all serious and it's incredibly straight.

It's been really, really well looked after and it shows.

Original and later Rover 25 wheel trims included.

Two sets of floor mats, including the originals.

The driver's door card has collapsed where you rest your arm

It splutters at low revs (no, the head gasket has NOT gone) but it mostly clears up when you 'give it some' at cruising speeds.

I've got a new rotor arm here but it's not been fitted.

Bit grubby inside in places, will address this if I get chance.

I reckon it's got to be one of the better ones left out there now and when it's on song it effing flies along, that lumpy running is a pain though but it seems fine on a run at 50mph plus.

I'll get better pictures when I can and I'm also happy to take it for an MOT (at cost) if I get chance.

Money? Subjective, I suppose, but I would like to think an Autoshite price tag of £450 is pretty fair. Don't want a swap or anything, soz.

It's in Chester and as ever any inspection more than welcomed.

*EDIT: Those pictures do NOT flatter the car, if anything it's probably shinier in real life.

Oh, that is lovely. I hope someone throws cash at you and gives it the licking it deserves. I'd lick it all day long, and probably set my alarm to give it a lick in the night too. Very lickable.

(note, because it's got a roof, and because my neighbour has just made some quite sarcastic comments WRT one terraced house and three cars, I'm oot)

You all know this will be famous last words, but I've fitted the new rotor arm today, and the car is running like a dream. I'll try and get it in for an MOT this week/soon.

  • 2 weeks later...

I imagine for other people it is, but I'm looking at paying an extra £150-200 on top of what I pay for the Xantia.  I thought R8s were cheap to insure and had been very seriously considering this one.  R8s make me happy, they're comfy and pleasant to drive and built well enough as well as looking pretty stylish, even more so when they're from before the time of the chrome grille.

Talk like this has no place on such a forum.

Kindly have a good long word with yourself - and perhaps refamiliarise yourself with such stylish and pleasant cars as the Morris Marina Coupé I saw today in Hemel.

This has gone straight through the MOT today (they blew the washer jets clear and replaced one bulb) with no advisories. Running like the proverbial Swiss watch and is a really pleasant place to be.

Price remains £450 ono, I'm going to tackle giving it a bit of a valet and maybe peanut butter the bumpers back into life a bit.

Those pics do it no favours, this thing is an absolute peach folks, I'm telling you. Now it has been cleaned again, (so as not to put off the punters,) I can tell you I've actually licked it, and it tasted every bit as good as it looked. And I was sober.

(Keep yer pants on Billy, I'm still not in the market.)
