Six-cylinder
Also tempted by the thought of a Rover R8 cabriolet. Which is, frankly, worrying. What next, late-model Escort floppytop? RichardK, CGSB and The Moog
They_all_do_that_sir
If you've got the opportunity I'd stash the Slk away under a cover for another day. You've invested a lot of time on it, currently their at their lowest level price wise and genuinely nice ones are becoming few and far between. By all means get a more practical cabrio.. sell the Twingo if needs be.. but reading between the lines I think that if you did get rid of the Slk you might regret it more than you currently think you would.I'll second that. You just know as soon as you sell it prices will start to appreciate big time.... Having just bought a nice example of the much derided w203 I have to say mercs of this era are still nicely engineered Sent from my F3211 using Tapatalk
RichardK
Maybe - I hate it sitting unused but it doesn't appear to have deteriorated. Twingo won't be for sale though - I've seen how rough some of these are, my repairs look good - I have a small list of things I'd like to fix in summer when I can maybe take my Fiat or the Twingo to France and pick up some parts. Biggest job is for the smallest parts and I've been really dragging my feet over it - replacing the plastic sunroof guides.
RichardK
Also tempted by the thought of a Rover R8 cabriolet. Which is, frankly, worrying. What next, late-model Escort floppytop? Yes. Grey, or nightfire, or amranth, or green and cream seats. Wasn't there one with red seats for sale here not that long ago? Been absent long enough to have missed quite a lot, I suspect. Ghosty
That is the ex-Kiltox, now six-cylinder example above. Was going to have it as my first car actually, but it sold before I could get to it, then somehow Mr Cylinder got hold of it after I acquired a broken R8 with a roof.I have a hankering for a roofless one, hence the 2 tickets I have in doubleyeller's roffle for a white one with grey leather. RichardK
House move means... remarkably.., bye bye SLK. It's been an interesting six years.Need to get it MoTd again - but form an orderly queue I guess. If anyone's interested.

I've been off social media (largely) - all of the stuff that leads to renting somewhere new in a civilised* area and so forth... * really isn't. But needs, and budget, must. Can't afford Catherine-de-Barnes or whatever it's called. Price-wise, £2250 is the ideal, but let's see how everything is lying when I MoT it. RichardK
A4 RTK?No time yet to get MoT sorted, but it'll be done soon - got some time off to move.(It'll probably go back to S824 LLX or whatever it was before).

RichardK
Congrats on getting it through the MOT.Bet you don't want to sell it now , with the weather the way it is. I had no doubt it would pass, just wasn't sure I'd have time to take it! It's still for sale; I've no space to keep in, no budget to insure it and no time to drive it. It comes with a boot full of spares (like a new radiator - not needed, but grabbed in Amazon sale) and my diagnostic touch screen computer (an old Windows XP EPOS terminal with a Mercedes 38-pin multiplexer and an old copy of some software, I forget what it's called). Serious interest welcome, of course, but I do have places to store it!

RichardK
Okay - so, MoTd, moved. Usual story - life means no time, plus I'm not keeping lots of cars on the street in Birmingham. Have figured I'll take £1750 for it. Most people who know the car/history would say that's a good price. It passed the MoT last month in the middle of the house move, and I still need to take the private plate off - it'll probably revert to S824 LLX. Pictures of the current state of the arches etc. It's good for an SLK of this age. Wack, Fat_Pirate, Skizzer and 3 others

The Reverend Bluejeans
Because £1750.....? It's way too much £££ for a 1998 car with rust issues. One went through BCA in Manchester recently for £780 plus fees. Silver, about a 51 plate and clean. I'd Ebay it and see how it goes. That's the best barometer for what cars are really worth. History of gearbox oil change and service? History of intake manifold/PCV lines being cleaned and replaced? Camshaft actuator? This is considerably better underneath than most 1998 SLKs - and later. Rather better history than an auction find, too...
RichardK
If anyone's seriously interested in this, they're welcome to see it and persuade me I'm wrong on the price - but I know (from experience, sadly) what a cheap SLK is like and how many £££s it takes to get them to be half decent. seacow
I don’t think you are far off on the money if you find the right buyer - that colour is ace! I’ve had mine a little over a year and keep thinking of moving it on but enjoy driving it so much every time I jump in I just can’t seem to let it go! Mine is as yours - bubbles on front wings and couple of bits on the roof - everything works though and drives great - not particularly fast just fun - especially with the top down! I think in a few years these will start heading north price wise Good luck with sale!

RichardK
I don't have time to deal with this, unfortunately. So no haggling, no messing. £1300. Won't come with the star diagnostic clone at that, will have a couple of new service items. Edit: No - I haven't tried marketing it anywhere else and failed. I simply don't have time - up at 6am, drive 2 hours to Peterborough for work, leave at 5:30ish, not home until 8. What remains of my mood is done for after that so the last thing I want is eBay or Gumtree "will u take 800 m8" nonsense as I'm likely to go postal! Cheap price, for Autoshiters, undervaluing IMO, and if it doesn't appeal so be it - after having people asking about it repeatedly when I didn't want to sell!
