Legacy is a paragon of refinement compared to an MV - never driven an Impreza so can't comment, but would imagine the same would apply.

I would imagine one with a 200bhp engine would be fun in its own way, but unlike the Legacy / Impreza they're only part-time 4wd and the steering is unassisted and rather low geared, so they're not a vehicle which particularly invites hooning.  Although I'm sure it has been done.

It has some mismatched seats.

Generally looks pretty tidy under there, I had a minor issue trying to get it onto the ramp to look underneath but I soon solved it.

The bottom of the nudge bar was very low and was a bit of a concern because of the massive speed bumps around here. I didn't want to scrape it into them so just chopped the bottom section off.

It looks pretty good underneath, it's had a bit of welding over the years but all looks to have been done to a good standard.

Lovely.

Always fancied a Brumby but have never seen one for sale in non farmer condition.

I bought a defender once so I understand now that one owner from new means multiple drivers , low mileage actually means it's spent all it's life on fields covered in cow shit which rots the chassis from the inside out pulling tree stumps out so the diffs, steering and every bush and bearing are knackered = farmer condition

This - I've only ever looked at 3 in earnest as they were all borked beyond belief. it kind of dampened the spirit somewhat. I can't be trawling across the pond for bare faced lies to see scrap that should in no way have a certificate of roadworthiness.

That looks generally messy but in good condition. Excellent find and purchase fella.

Never understood why Subaru stopped doing pickups, these were ace! Do Impreza turbo mechanicals fit?

The Brat/MV/284 was a niche product and basically a facelifted 1970s vehicle, I can't imagine a Legacy-based replacement.

They produced the Baja in the early 2000s for the North American market, a lifestyle truck more than a workhorse. It wasn't a great success. I'd love one with a flat 6.

I remember years ago a mate got some rally tyres to fit a Brat & took it to a pay n play site. It did rather well, with just ground clearance letting it down.

Always had a soft spot for these as they were just so different when they were new. A farming neighbour bought one new, he liked it, unfortunately by the time its first mot came around he didn't bother to try to get it tested as it was a wreck. Mechanically it was still good, but his sheer neglect of the bodywork had ruined it. The rear end was rotten from being reversed into something solid, it was bent, buckled and scraped, trailer lamps had been crudely fitted to replace the damaged lights, but no paint was put over the scraped areas. Whenever paint had been knocked off nothing was done and I can only assume that cow-shit is very corrosive. It did survive for a few more years as field transport before going for scrap. I think many went the same way

I took it out for a leisurely Sunday drive!
