DodgyBastard
Reckon he's got to the point where they find him now. Funnily enough, I had no idea there was one in the auction and had no intention of attending but a friend messaged me on Friday saying there was a 305 in as a late entry, there weren't any photos up and it hadn't been added to the auction catalogue so none of the punters on the day knew about it really.I went up for a look on Friday, it looked a bit scabby but drove perfectly and the interior was decent so I left a bid of £400 with the auctioneer. We got there about halfway through the auction and had a tense hour or so waiting for the 305 to be called so passed the time by wandering around. It was pretty tense waiting on the 305, there were quite a few cars that I wouldn't have thought would be popular where there were a lot of bids, two mk1 MX5's went for something like £5k each, an E46 316 auto for over £2kThis 500SEC for £2200 RJC_1251 by srblythe, on Flickr I was starting to worry there was going to be a bidding frenzy on the 305... This 2cv was hanging... RJC_1237 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_1235 by srblythe, on Flickr It sold for £300 The 305 was one of the last entries to be auctioned so the majority of people had left already, the auctioneer started the bidding at £200, someone in the hall bid £250 and then it fell back to my bid at £300, it felt like an eternity waiting for the hammer to drop but then it did and the 305 was mine... jon.k
I saw that one up! I should have guessed that as it was in Scotland you’d be on the case. That looks like a bargain. If anyone else is looking for a mint 305 and fancies a trip to the south of France look on the club Peugeot uk website classifieds. There’s a gorgeous looking saloon there. DodgyBastard
I went to collect it today RJC_1297 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_1296 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_1308 by srblythe, on Flickr It was a quiet and uneventful drive home, the car started up no bother with a little choke, warmed up quickly and cruised down the motorway all the way home. Stuck it up in the air and found the underside to be totally solid, floors, chassis legs etc in amazing condition. The subframe and axle had been painted grey and looked reasonable enough and there's been a brand new exhaust fitted recently. RJC_1305 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_1304 by srblythe, on Flickr Couple of bits require attention on the sills and both rear arches but I'm going to cut them off the red car. vulgalour, dave21478, worldofceri and 8 others

DodgyBastard
DSC_0458 by srblythe, on Flickr I wasn't really feeling the Penta alloys on the Mercedes so went back to the original wheels with hubcaps. There's been an annoying creaking/squeaking sound coming from the drivers side rear suspension since buying the car, it seemed to go away when wet or snowing but as soon as it dried up outside the noise would come back.I've been driving the car this week and it was really starting to annoy me. Thankfully I found the cause of the noise, it was a bent bracket which is part of the trailing arm bushing, after bending it back into shape the noise was gone. I'm disappointed I didn't find it sooner because I would have probably used the car more often, I had even considered selling it because of the noise. DodgyBastard
I had a mildly productive day... RJC_1342 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_1314 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_1317 by srblythe, on Flickr Fitted some 14" BBS alloys from an E30 followed by some welding on the 305 estate. RJC_1320 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_1326 by srblythe, on Flickr Drivers side rear arch was thought to be the better side but I ended up having to rebuild the inner wheel arch too. RJC_1328 by srblythe, on Flickr It really wasn't my best work, I struggled to get the correct shape when making the outer arch, I suppose I could use a bit of filler to get the correct shape but I'm just happy that the rust has gone and there's new metal in its place. RJC_1329 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_1330 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_1334 by srblythe, on Flickr What welding? The other side was a bit easier to work on because I had some good metal to use from the red estate. RJC_1343 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_1336 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_1338 by srblythe, on Flickr After grinding it back and finding some generic halfords Ford grey to spray on, I was finished for the day. RJC_1344 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_1349 by srblythe, on Flickr The colour match is rubbish and the welding could have been better but it's all stuck together and seems solid enough. Just got a patch to make on the front of the sill and I think the welding will be complete and I'd get it in for an mot. worldofceri, tooSavvy, Zelandeth and 8 others

DodgyBastard
Finished patching up the front of the sill and sprayed all of the scrapes with that random tin of ford midnight grey. I might eventually get around to finding the correct colour and doing a half decent job.Need to get it booked in for a test soon. I think they are nice looking motors, and seriously rare now I always find it's best to get stuck in as soon as possible before the enthusiasm waivers and I find that I can't really be bothered doing anything. Take my Fiat twin cam engine going into the Lada, I've had the engine for months and haven't made any effort with it. I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever get around to fitting it.
