...what did you get for xmas then?

I did really really well, considering.

I got this from my folks:

And I bought these 2 from the £30 my sisters gave me:

They were in sale, got 40% off both. The Ford in particular is gorgeous, having some amazing details such as suspension, an opening parcel shelf and a slight touch of turret rust.

The missus got me a DVD about the Beatles, some die cast models and something else which was extremely rare but too rude for this forum.

Was the 'rare' thing the 36in anal destroyer?

Funnily enough no. But thanks for the suggestion!Actually I saw a neat book in some bookshop, which has a well written Haynes guide to some shite cars, with those excellent cutaway illustration of each car. Might invest in a copy which will save me having to buy a haynes manual just for the cover....

Fujifilm camera recommended to me in that thread, it's mental. Still need to sort out a memory card for it though. Also two discounted suits as I hate buying clothes. One grey, one a sort of brown-ish green, both pleasingly old-fashioned in style. In the grey one I look like a low-grade mobster circa 1982 and in the brown/green one I look like I'm going to cut you a sweet deal on a Plymouth Gran Fury, possibly throwing in whitewalls.Pretty free of car products sadly.

Clothes (missus has very good taste when buying for me it must be said), books (story of Bill Gardner amongst others) and some more fish for my tropical set up which was nice. Oh and an Alan Partidge CD which includes the legendary 'cow off a bridge' episode!

Couple of books, CDs, clothes. Not a great deal in the way of car stuff although I did get a bit of money which will be converted into eBay France purchases and a few bits of restoration bits from Frosts when I get myself going.I'm a bit diecast modelled out at the moment what with having a shop full of them and all, but yeh the Sunstar Mk3 Escorts are really nice. Would be nice if they could produce a Ghia spec or RS1600i as well. Love the Norev Golf in Gulf colours as well, some of the 1/18 scale Norev stuff is ace, shame its relatevely difficult to find in UK.That said I will be adding a 1/18 Renault 12 TS (Solido) to my collection I think

Did ok this year- got both Hammond's and Clarkson's books (Hammond's in particular is a genuinely hysterical read) but the best pressie was a digital scanner for converting 35mm negs and slides to jpg. Absolutely brilliant, except.... my bloody computer won't drive it!!! Needs a usb 2.0 port, and my old machine has only usb 1.0. Not insurmountable, apparently, but need to get the son-in-law to take a look inside it's guts to see what sort of card I need to buy and fit?!! Bugger!

Like those models....where were they 40% off??

In the covered market in Oxford - I can't recall the exact name of the shop but I think its the only bespoke model shop in the centre of town these days. The guy mainly sells model buses and stuff, but has a reasonable number of 1/18th and HO/OO trackside stuff. Pop in and save his business.

VWpowered - what scale is that 411/412 and golf next to it? I have a minichamps 411/412 one, but this one looks smaller. I recognise the Pilen and minichamps 1/43 Scirocco, Solido do a neat racing version which can be found quite cheaply. I think there's an image of it on my site somewhere.

the top one is a Schuco and the one below it is like your pilen model.

Welly did a neat 1/60 scale version too, shame about all the crap on it though. There's bound to be more - I think the Scirocco is pretty well represented in die cast form.

I did quite well this year, 50 metres of 40x40 box section and a chop saw off the good lady, a nice MAC tools zippo lighter of my middle son, a Duffy cd and a couple of dvd's of my youngest son. However he bought the wife the complete set of Steptoe and Son on dvd so am presently laughing like a drum at them :lol::lol:

As ever I got a pair of socks off my father in law, and as ever my wife goes quietly ape shit as he gives her £100 insisting its just for her and gives me a pair of socks. Frankly im not arsed as the sock monster always leaves e pretty depleted by Crimbo time anyway, and as much as he doesnt like me, /i get to bang his daughter like the outhouse door when the norovirus hits town, so im happy!Otherwise some DVD's and stuff, plus some of those excellent pocket "dangerous books for boys" - kwolity lavatory reading.

Faarrkin 'ell thats minted! I remember most GL-spec MK3's as this colour. Perfect wheels too!

I have the 1/18 XR3 model in yellow and always hoped theyd do a version in a lower trim level.

Bonus Edinburgh reg plate - I missed out on a black XR3 with that plate - mine has the left hand drive and crappy german plate :(

I'm holding out for a Base model 1/18 Escort then, with no headrests, one mirror and scale 1100 engine for the 'win' etc etc!!
