I didn't think this was the place to shift this but there seems to be some 944 love on here at the minute so what the hell, here goes...

Up for sale here is my 1992 Porsche 944S2. It's in a rare dark blue with grey leather interior-I personally love this colour scheme and chose it over the usual red/white cars that you normally see.

It's MOT'd til March-I have it taxed and insured at the moment and it gets regular use. It can be supplied with a full years MOT on negotiation.

Most importantly, the sills are solid.

It's done 176k with a mass of history with it. In my time with it (just over a year) it's had front pads(Pagid), oil and filter, a support brace for the front anti roll bar to stiffen things up, 2 tyres (P Zero), gearbox oil change, plugs, distributor cap and other things I've no doubt forgot.

The timing belt was last done 4 years and 20000 miles ago with genuine Porsche parts-receipts are there for this According to Autodata the interval is 48000 miles so she's good for a while yet.

The worst part of the car is the paintwork. It's had a respray in the last few years in the original colour but the quality wasn't great and it has some rust starting to show.

I've tried to show the worst parts of the bodywork-these are bubbles round the front wing with some rust at the base, also the rear arches have some bubbles.

A good polish would bring the rest of the car up a lot better.

Interior is good apart from the trim at the side underneath the dash-it's there but not fixed on. The bonnet release works but the bit that mounts it to the dash was broken hence it hangs loose. Seats are good, it cleans up well inside. Sunroof has no leaks and works.

Fundamnetally it's solid-the sills are good and it has history of timing belt changes etc. Mechanically it's standard apart from Koni shocks on the front and the ARB stiffener-it handles very well. Oil pressure is spot on and it has used no coolant in my time with it. The engine is till in very good health and it is tight-don't let the mileage put you off.

It comes with the rare as hens teeth bag for the sunroof and the gin-yoo-ine Porsche tyre infator which seems to mean something in Porsche circels.

I'm only selling it on as I fancy a change-I may be interested in a deal with a classic, kit car, TVR etc so WHY?

It's on various sited at £3250 ono making it about the cheapest S2 in the country that is actually used-shiters discount available of course...

hmm that's interesting as I was eyeing one up in January stuck in the back of a garage,   owner said he was hoping for a grand which I thought was a tad steep, looks like I was wrong then as I am not up on porches.

This is an s2, that was likely an s1, and for a bag I'd guess an early non-oval dash one.

S2 = 3l

S1 = 2.5l

Oval dash = suspension and trim upgrades (1985.5)

it was on an H plate and he said it was a 3 litre, looks like I better get my arse back over then.

Aye, get that bought.  Even if you have to collect it with a brush and shovel you'll get your money back in bits breaking it.

I'm sure I recognise this - did you buy it from Steve Bloxham down in berwick ? I do miss my 944 but I would have to get rid of the mazda if I wanted another

Common as muck round my way :)

I think I got it from the guy he sold it to. Is he a guy who trades in MX5s? I traced its history via the forums. He bought it cheap up north where it lived for many years with rough paint then had it painted (!) and sold it to the chap I got it from in 2013.

that's him, he's got some lovely mazdas coming in fresh from japan now, not cheap but twenty years old and not a spot of rust on them. I'd love to buy one but (as a mate recently put it) I tend to "kick the shit" out of my poor little mx on the track so it's probably best that I don't .

back on topic, if anyone is considering a 944, the S2 is a cracking choice, very comfy on long journeys, fun on the twisties and a hoot on track - take a test drive and try to resist its charms !

Probably no help, but I used to find my old 944 was quite economical. I didn't log mileage back then, but from memory I think I got 30-35mpg on a run

Aye, it's good on a run. Did Edinburgh to Skye last year with Mrs Dome and full camping gear in the back. It was "extended" wherever possible on the brilliant roads up that way and I calculated the economy(brim to brim) at 32mpg overall.

If only I could sell a Land Rover I'd be all over this. Unfortunately, they all need work doing to them.

Next thing you'll be leaving pictures of Land Rovers all over this forum trying to force me into some sort of deal. I won't hear of it, i tell you

Ok, go on then. Just one.
