My friend who owns the trailer volunteered that I could park the loaded ensemble on his drive overnight as it is the end of cul-de-sac while mine is reversing from a 50 mph road not to far from a blind crest. Funny thing since he made the offer he has a viewing on his house this afternoon and made me park the Allegro round the corner until his prospective house buyers have been and gone! Bumhats. This is one of the threads where my notifications have gone weird and missed you were coming my way. I'd have put the kettle on. No this is specific help I want to get our 1983 Alfa Giulietta booked into our local Alfa specialist to return it to the road, but feel I can’t do that until I have got the car rolling so I can load it on a trailer and give it a clean up. What I need is a young, fit, enthusiastic person to go under the Giulietta and hammer and gouge at the inboard rear brake pads until they let go of the disc so we can roll the car for loading onto a trailer. I would also like to give it a general clean up so it looks like it is worth saving. I think it would be more fun if there was a small gang of us. (Except for the poor unfortunate under the car) Usual kettle on stuff and back to the house if it’s too cold at the field. Possible Dates Saturday 2nd MarchSunday 3rd MarchSaturday 9th MarchSunday 17th March - This is the Date now setSunday 24th March The KEY is the volunteer to lay under the car to tackle the brakes so if you are that person say when you can? I did have a Metro years ago with that 'box and the performance was adequate once it was up and moving, but that was a 1275 and had only done 27K from new. Need to field some nice sharp, thin chisels as well... the idea is to break away the friction material from the rear brake pads so that the rear disks will be free to turn, without damaging the pad backplates or the calipers or their likely-to-be-very-fragile winding mechanisms... that lot can then get some attention once removed from the car... In theory I should be available and so long as my back isn't having a bad day I should be able to help out with the grovelling around hitting things with hammers bit. Especially if someone else can help keep tabs on where the tools are. My total inability to keep track of anything for more than ten seconds is my biggest headache! Hmm...wonder if TP might be ready for this... Got any photos of the braking setup in question so I could have a think to see if I can come up with any brainwaves? The help I am asking for is to get it ready to transport and I have already agreed in principle with Andy at Alfa Specialists Northampton that he will do the work. Oh and make it look as presentable as we can because it is 20 years since Andy saw the car and it may have looked a bit better then!
