Six Cylinders Motoring Notes

Six-cylinder

I suspect that's doubtful. Six-cylinder's place is like the Hotel California of cars :D

I had never picked up on that before......

"We are programmed to receive.

You can check-out any time you like,

But you can never leave! "

You are right we tend not to sell cars once we have them but I think that holding on to this BX is probably bad form, so while I may not advertise it, I would release it on request. It stands me in at £300 with the welding and fresh MOT, anybody up for it.

Yesterday I drove my CX to London where Brodie Eng are going to replace the climate control heater switch and sort a manifold exhaust blow. In spite of these faults it was an absolute delight to drive it there.

On the way to London I noticed the wiper was not clearing the screen properly so stopped at Red Rose garage in Wendover who have an proper old fashion parts shop, when the book did not show the CX they went out and measured it and if that was not enough they fitted it. All this was for £6.99. I bought a CX wiper there in 2006 so I knew they stocked them! What a pleasant and interesting place to be amongst the tools and accessories, with fair prices. I want to call in next time I am passing just to mooch around.

When I reached Brodie Eng what a treat for the eyes, 2 X Citroen SM and a Mercedes 600 among others.

Last night a friend came to stay and bought his new toy with him, as usual being very generous to me I got to give it a drive this morning.

Looks great.

Sounds good if a little quiet.

V8 6 speed manual, goes well.

Brakes feel like they are grabbing and are hard to be smooth with.

It feels like it is built to a price in some details.

About, that down to price thing....

attachicon.gifimage.jpg

£226 per BHP

attachicon.gifimage.jpg

£83 perBHP

And if current values of Monaros and SRT8 300Cs is anything to go by in 5 or 10 years time the Yank will be worth double the Merc.

Maybe, electric seat base but the backrest is a fiddly manual catch and really cheap plastic dash.

Sounds a bit like my Chrysler 300! Coming from a Merc it felt cheap for a little while, then I got used to it and realised it may feel cheap but it was certainly tough. Went back to Ze Germans and for the first few weeks I kept caressing the trim and listening to the lack of creaks , feeling smug- right up to the engine went bang.

My friend is a yank fan and also has:

1989 Mustang 5.0 manual saloon

1972 5.7 Corvette 5.7 Auto

1964 Galaxie 500 Coupe 392 Cu

I got first drive on the mustang as I collected it for him, He had the Corvette delivered to my house so it took him 5 days before hegot it away from me. The Galaxie was bought while he was homeless and he said he could only buy it if I would look after it and that lasted over a year with him borrowing it from me!
