So after much fuckery in the cold and head scratching the fault  with the C8 OS binding brake was eventually traced ( after replacing all three handbrake cables twice because it only ever happened when the handbrake cable was applied).

Turned out that the new caliper was faulty. What is the chance of that happening ?

Wouldn't happen every time, 9 times out of 10 when released the caliper released OK and on the 10th time it stuck on about quarter of an inch.

Caliper exchanged with ECP who were not cnutish about it in the slightest and so far all appears well.

Then... The Almera, the zorst ( which had previously been blowing from the mid section and responded well to some sparkly stick action) decided to do an impression of a V8. That I could put up with but the clonking, not. Took it to National today as they were the only place open near me and after a wait of an ice age was told they had to replace the WHOLE zorst front to back at a cost of over £300. Now bear in mind the car isnt worth more than that after the escapade with the old lady and the street vandals of Fulwood I was a bit loath to pay that.

So, now, from Preston, its the Bodge of the week....

Right, I've got this....

Cable 1: BT wall socket to phone base unit

Cable 2: USB 2.0 - probably ex-mobile phone charger.

Is the USB a Nokia lead?

Red cable still unidentified at this point amongst shitters it seems - it has a purpus.

The grey cable is a BT socket to phone lead

The USB is indeed a Nokia power supply lead.

Cable 3 (red): electrical flex for garden equipment? Lamnmower, strimmer, etc.?

The clue is, it was in the glovebox

A further clue - there is still two other parts remaining in the glove box...

Got it in one Mr Foxake.

It is indeed the red lead from a DMM.
