When someone who worked for a dealer that soild these told me to stick well clear, it was enough to put me off. But like all things AS, it'll be good to read of someone else's fun* without actually having to fork out for one personally.

And another one - Following the Cavcraft school of buying shitty things unseen I have agreed to collect one of these on Thursday night

*May not just slap on a copy of the number plate off the X9 and ride home down the back roads from Runcorn

Mavip-Baotian_BT_125_M3_ac1pz.jpg

*May look nothing at all like this ( in fact bearing the price that is highly likely)

Although now there's a Baotian in the mix, the Lifan suddenly looks like a sensible purchase!

Dropped the Novio off with the new owner today - impressed with the 1970's housing estate which still had original CL lamp standard and Thorn Gamma sodium lamps atop of them.

Picked up the Baotian - it has what I like to call a 10 yard paint job - though in fairness the bodywork  looks OK close up too - just when you get close up its you realise just how very "plasticky" and cheap the construction is, like the front locker feels like its going to fall off, the "chrome" on the brake levers has already flaked off leaving, well, what looks like plastic underneath. The front tyre appears to be made from the same substance as labradors paws on laminate whilst the back one has been changed and looks and feels OK. Flat out with a fat bloke on it it does 45 and does take a while to wind up to that.... Which is a bit dismal for a 125cc, but fast enough to keep up with town traffic which is all I want it for really. Slightly worrying is the pre fitted CTEK lead for a bike showing only 400KMs on the clock - although in fairness I have one on my bike too and mine ( below) looks a lot less pro than the job on the Baotian.

Anyone fancy a winter Baotian - unexpected credit card bill means sale imminent ( actually credit card bill was expected, but the wife discovering it and going mental was not).

400kms from new. Remote start, alarm, new rear tyre, good front tyre, rode it home yesterday and it never missed a beat - 45 top whack with 19 stone of northerner on board, prob faster with someone lighter.

2 keys, log book, MOT Cert ( MOT till July 6th 2017)

Pez, 4T donkey.  No scrapes or cracks to the plastics. Just feels very "cheap", but then at £400 ono for a Chinese bike with MOT and only 300 ish miles under its belt it is cheap.

Poss swap with a bit of cash my way for a 50cc.

Mate of mine has just emailed me to say he has bought this 66 plater today - GRADE-A shite

8842800.jpg

Roundabout £18K ish - the question is will it last the duration of its 5 year warranty?

Boat still here and actually runs quite well, could do with a new battery but starts OK on the kick if the alarm has dragged the battery down a bit.

Luzzed a new battery on the Boat and flogged on Gumtree...

And after a bit of help from Bub.... Bought this.

31877570120_db064169e2.jpg

A 1980's/early 90's Tomos A3MS.

I have a soft spot for these - my first ever bike was a Disco and whilst this lacks the round headlamp and fairing of the Disco its essentially the same bike.

I cant see me running this as a minter, but who knows I may strip it and paint it, Ive already sourced a new seat and some new decals. Coming tomorrow via Bub Deliveries.

I had a a3ms with little fairing and round light but spoked wheels. Bought a spares bike with these wheels on and swapped over. Hilarious to ride. Engages second gear at 15 mph but won't climb hills. I used to have to feather throttle around 12mph up a steep hill near me. Made a lot of friends* riding that

Has Ultrawomble finally cashed in his Embassy Regal coupons, or is it his Green Shield Stamps that have covered the acquisition costs for this?
