Nice.  I had the 125 version, which was a tad overweight for a learner bike but a nice solid thing to ride and sounded decent for a small engine.

Looks a bit like a homemade special made from an sv650 engine, gsxr slabside frame and a generic 125 front end.

I like it.

I think that is pretty much exactly what the factory did!

They also did a 650 version which was just like an older SV650 with a front disk missing.

I fancy building one of these...

First up - hit the auctions and source a base frame...

Same kit, with a little ingenuity you can make a fairly tidy job of it. That one looks like the top of a telegraph pole up front, you'd never fall off it, you'd just get tangled up with the bike. Mine is a 49cc and goes about as well as the Tomos, even with the exhaust extension on it. Provides plenty of giggles. Fine also if you're prepared for the vibration of the engine to cause everything to fracture and fall off too.

Nice.  I had the 125 version, which was a tad overweight for a learner bike but a nice solid thing to ride and sounded decent for a small engine.

This is now deceased.......my mate had it and bobbed it. To be honest it looked ok in a omgratluk way, and with all the plastics removed, LED strip lights in the rear subframe, lowered on home made wishbones, oversized rear tyre and one of those cheap Chinese end cans, and anything identifying it as a Hyosung removed, no one ever guessed what it was.

Was finally abandoned when everthing decided it had had enough. The ECU went pop, brake calipers needed rebuilding, chain & sprockets were worn out etc. Engine was still ok when parked up.........

Mate had loads of fun with it, honed his bike design skills, and now rides around on a Sinnis Stealth that must be the quietest 125 I have ever heard, and with the most over braked front end ever (twin front discs on a commuter 125).

I can haz a jigsaw puzzle of 1974 Suzuki FR70 step thru cub type bike

Plan 1 - go through the boxes of parts and work out what I need. Paint triumph yellow. Lob in a pit bike engine and ride.

Plan 2 - put in the shed and look at it every so often and think where the fuck do I even begin with this .

Plan 3. - put number plate on another step thru and enjoy tax and mot free motoring.bf65ed6ed45ef015c12af875d368bc95.jpg

Check for rampant rot in the frame, swing arms and fork housings - a friend had 2 of these CRA xxJ and FRA xxxL both literally fell apart in the early 90s, oh and contrary to expectations they were both restricted and slower than a slow thing, they did however do loads to the gallon - important when you are 16!

Frame was shot blasted and primed.
Forms seem ok as does the swing arm.

Frame has been welded tail chopped and a cross bar welded in. Was going to be choppered.

Current thoughts are to screw it together, I have some Honda 72 spoke rims that should fit possibly fit a pit bike engine and see how it looks.

Whether that happens if course is another thing.

So.
Frame with log book.
2 sets of forks.
Swing arm
Fuel tank and top.
Rims.
Brakes. Lots of nuts and bolts.
Bit of rot in the frame over the rear suspension tube though mostly solid and not holed.

Hi level wholesalers used to do cub wheels to the trade for about £20 if I remember correctly. Might be worth checking if pattern ones are available rather than spend time respoking.

Ive a pair of F&R 72 spoke Cub wheels ( hanging in the photo) which can be made to fit ( the brake centres from the Suzuki dont fit the cub ones so I would need to fit Cub items anyway) so wheels are sorted but I have no handle bars/ head stock mounts or things like that.

Stress factor 9 today...

Wifes car has pissed its handbrake again throwing much smoke and flames into the air Now in at garage number 4 ( 40 miles away) after 2 independants and a Shitroen stealership have failed to effect a lasting fix.

Handbrake is either as ineffective as a cat flap in an elephant house or binds and causes much smoke and fire from the wheel.

New calliper x2, new brake cables xMANY and much stripping of parts has failed to sort out the problem. And of course we are off to Ireland in the small hours of Saturday morning... And my cars MOT runs out in 10 days... And Im working right up to 6 PM Friday night.

f645043ecad90d48d241e20955816fd4.gif

Meanwhile Im up at sparrow fart tomorrow taking it to the man in the barn where I will be praying the Picasso doesn't fail its MOT. I may have found the clunking noise after discovering the air filter housing was lose. Though its wishful thinking that its cured it.

Contingency Plan - Classifieds, bum tree and eBay for a large car with MOT till September for the £400-£500 mark (yes I know about the SpaceWagon on here but its in London, I need something local).

Well despite having the most annoying "clonk" noise whenever you set off or brake the Picasso has a fresh MOT

So Ireland is safe from me turning up is a shonker - shame, I had my eye on a nice Megane estate.

Yo, my Berlingo (same suspension I think) had such a clonk which it sailed through 2 x MOTs with before I eventually found out it was the strut top mount bearing.

The clonk is the spring/bearing suddenly moving, on mine it also happened with steering all the way L or R when parking.

Naturally it's a twat of a job as the strut has to be stripped to change it, but the bearing was cheap.

Wifes car is back from the garage again with ANOTHER rear calliper and cable set. This makes number 3.

She has just gone on a 90 mile round trip shakedown ride in it with plenty of handbrake action to see if anything is binding.

The C8's days are numbered. In other news made a punt for this....

1500 miles trogging around Ireland and the C8 handbrake still seems to be functioning as desired, so I decided to fettle the air con...

40211765_1020086178179619_10567378208418

In with a cheap tin of generic R134a compatible gas...

THEN

40243149_1020086344846269_22314654456411

A bit of a faff to put into the air con line and it didnt all go in - but fingers crossed it might plug whatever small leak is eeking the gas away over a period of 3 - 4 months.

Decided to sell the 72 spokes and the Suzuki and buy something in one piece.

Wanna sell it....

C90's do go for silly money now for what they are ( and how many were made) But keep looking as occasionally they do turn up on notice boards in the local shop for a reasonable price.
